What other message boards are saying (Alabama pre-game edition)

What you said brother. We will be fighting the gumps and the refs Saturday night.
If we could get fair and impartial representation in this game, I believe TN would beat Bama 7 out of 10 times. Our offense is that much better than theirs and our defense doesn’t suck all of the time.

Our run defense seems to get better as the games get into the 4th quarter, but early on it's just hand off and move the sticks. Our zone def?? Not very effective and the Taters QB can throw into some tight windows! Maybe their receivers being so wide open when we are in zone coverages with confuse him! But I think the defense can hold them to a winnable score for us. Our offense is going to put up points. The officiating good or bad will unfortunately be a big determining factor to the outcome, if the refs will call offensive holding when Alabama is trying to pass block (they hold a lot) the Vols can win!

I always like this thread, but it's not hard to separate the the men from boys or the women from girls or the ones in the closet on the comments of the opponents board.

Concerned from the aspect that AL for home games brings 22 players + 5 Officials to every home game. REFS' calls this year which have occurred effectively affected the outcome in how many SEC games. I would think there is some problems in ranks of officials. It is a mess at the moment.

Yes there is parity in the SEC to a degree but several games outcomes could be attributed to calls or the lack of calls. Illegal procedure correct call but neutral zone infraction is was caused the center to stand up. However, I don't think that the neutral zone infraction was going to be called.

We slapped 41 on that “vaunted” Georgia defense while Alabama could only muster up 24. They’ve also played Kentucky and Auburn, two of some of the worst offensive teams in the conference. Look at Missouri’s schedule and you will see why it’s number 2. Same with Vanderbilt. They will continue to play a lot of underperforming offenses going forward also in LSU, Texas, Auburn, and Kentucky. I’m not saying our defense are world beaters, but whenever you call these teams top 30 you have to look at who all they have played because the stats can easily be skewed.
Fair. We also gave up 44 to Georgia, 34 to Miss State, and 31 to Arkansas. Therein lies the problem.

The comment about Aguilar is fair. He forced a couple every game - even when he tried to throw one away vs. the Hogs.

My concern is we get beat in the trenches and they force turnovers.
They did not look good in the trenches vs Missouri last week. I don't think that's Alabama's strength this year

Agree...best effort vs best effort I also think we're fairly evenly matched...and close game down to the end. Crazy how a very makeable field goal vs UGA became a loss instead of a win and everyone forgets we should be undefeated right now, and just discounts that game.
we could also easily be 3-3

Bama's biggest weakness is their OL--not good on pass pro, not good in run blocking. Vols are weak against the run, but excellent in pass rush. The game will be determined by their OL against our DL. If Simpson gets enough time, and they run the ball effectively, they can outscore us. IMO, we'll have hold Bama to under 35 to have a chance.

Pretty sure I heard that bama has given up 13 sacks this year.

What makes you concerned about the trenches. They’ve give up almost as many sacks as they’ve had against opposing offenses. They can’t sack the qb and they have a tough time keeping people out of their backfield.

Even with Miller potentially being out, I’m surprised at the lack of comments from them about our run defense. They are all focused on our secondary. Which has been mistake prone as well of course. I like our chances in an explosive offense type of game vs Bama running the ball and eating up 5 minutes on each drive.

The one thing we don't know coming into the game is which team does the SEC office think gives the league the best chance in the playoffs. That will determine how the officiating goes. I'm betting its 3-1 against Vols. Doesn't mean we can't win but just another hurdle to overcome.
A friend of mine who’s maybe the most level headed person you’ll meet literally said the same thing yesterday. His words-“you can feel the direction the SEC is moving to for the playoffs by watching the Auburn and UT games”

"Bama will win by double digits" proceeded by making guess it will be a one score game..... Math ain't mathing for some.
I like how you changed what I wrote: I said Bama will "probably" with this game by 10+ points but it won't be a blowout, I say (which is my personal prediction) that Bama wins 35-27, so yes a one score game. I think Tennessee can surely keep it close but being at Bama and the Vols defense being as bad as it is, it could be a 10+ point win for the Tide. Thanks for playing......

Living in Tideland I would love nothing more than having bragging rights for another yr but our D and Heuple's inconsistent play calling does not give me confidence. And our long losing streak in Tusc hangs over our heads. Hoping for Tide fan meltdown but not expecting unless we are leading in 4th qtr.
I rewatched the Arky game. On D it seemed like we got a sack, a TFL, or got gashed through the air or on the ground.

Yeah, I remember a play against Arkansas, 3rd and 10+ yards, their WR ran to first down marker turned around at the marker, caught the ball for a first down, not a single UT player within 5 yards. That’s criminal.
That’s a blown assignment, not scheme.

Love Orange Beach btw. Was there when we played Ga and watched from the balcony. First time we’ve been in September and it was amazing.
