The refs are the only staff in college football that face zero consequences for being terrible at their job. Nobody’s saying a coach should get on camera and call someone a blind idiot for getting it wrong— but they should absolutely be able to say something like:
“There was a play where the opposing coach called a timeout, then decided he didn’t want it, and the clock was reset with no timeout charged. I’m not sure why the officials made that call and would like clarification — we’ll be submitting a complaint.”
The fact that coaches can’t even say that without risking fines or sanctions is ridiculous.
