The vols aren't competing against your expectations. They are competing against the opponent. I don't know what to say in response to what they "should have" done.
Funny how my comments about my appropriately lowered expectations arent very popular. Hmmmm... damned if I do, damned if I dont.

I don't find you damned either way. I don't know how to reply to what the team "should have" done.
Maybe I am the only one but I don't see a bunch of beat down in the SEC this year. It seems a new level of parity is upon us.

I don't think we win.
But the game is winnable so bring on those inbred, toothless sonsabeaches
That's how I'm looking at it. I'm not expecting a win but it won't shock me either. I'm tempering my expectations and hoping for the best.

You are probably 100% correct. Its only gonna get worse, IMO.

Banks is going to have to go all-in on the pass rush, and hope the defense gets to Simpson, or he makes a bad throw.

Otherwise, this game is Death by a Thousand Cuts for the Vols. Helps UT if Jam Miller is out, but if he's in this is an easy call.

Can't wait to see what the more logical posters come up with in the "Pick the Score" thread.

My memory isn't as sharp as it use to be, so I have a question. Didn't Coach Inge coach with the Bama HC and OC at Washington? Maybe he has a little insight to the way he schemes plays? What do you all say?

Same. That’s all you really can do. We may win, we may not. Would not be shocked if we did win. Now I’d be happy as a MF but not surprised

I don’t think we can keep Alabama from scoring 40 unless Alabama just decides to drain the clock with long drives and keeps it low scoring.

Kane Wommack doesn't have the first clue on how to stop offenses like ours.

This is the first time since the Fulmer years I've gone in to an Alabama game expecting a win. Obviously if we show up and play a D- game or some other such nonsense we'd lose, but so long as we show up like we usually show up under Heupel, the Vols will walk away the winner.

Heupel’s two best wins during his time at UT have come against bama. You know he will have a great offensive game plan Saturday night. He thrives as a coach in matchups like this.

Our defense has given up too many third and longs this season. I’m not sure it happens this game but we are due for a solid defensive performance. There’s too much talent on that side of the ball to give up the amount of points we’ve surrendered thus far. Our front seven must be ready to perform at a high level.

Green is the best QB we will see this year.
Ty Simpson can kick rocks.

Our defense will cost us this game. To win we will have to "Out Score" Bama. The one good thing is that the Bama QB is not mobile and we should be able to get a few sacks.
This is the one thing that gives me the most hope. We struggle the most against very mobile QB’s and we’re not facing an elite one (as far as mobility) this week.

Expecting it all to click at Bama under the lights is a massive statement of faith.

Taylen Green is going to be playing on Sundays.

Everyone was screaming about Arch M and Lagway all offseason....or Nussmeier from LSU simply because he is a senior and a coaches son...but Green is the most NFL ready prospect in the SEC this year. He runs hot and cold sometimes throwing the ball, but has a good arm. Nobody on our defense was fast enough to catch him Saturday, and I was there in person. He scrambled for 30 yards like it was nothing. Ty Simpson looks like he may be a good NFL QB some day, but Green will be an NFL passer next year and has the speed and savvy like Dobbs to be a backup QB in the NFL for a long time and make millions. Hes a better passer than Dobbs right now, and I love Josh.

Nothing will change most likely. At this point, we are who we are. Offense has to score most possessions and hope the D gets a couple of stops or turnovers.
