SEC Bylaw 10.5. needs to go

Simply put, it’s insane that coaches or institutions can’t speak their mind about officiating. After the year the SEC has had, if they’re not going to fix the officiating issues or even acknowledge them, then schools and coaches should have the right to call it out.

the reality is that if coaches were allowed to publicly roast certain refs it would 100% create a bias in the minds of the refs against that coach and it would definitely affect future calls against them.

Refs are already biased and affecting games. I'm not sure how it's going to happen more.

You mean like Kirby bullying refs in on the field into giving him a free reset of the playclock and not charging him his timeout? That **** needs to be called out. Auburn should be able to blast that.

they can still file complaints with the league. I really don't think the coach blasting the refs is going to make things better when people already see that it was a bad call.

Danny White should tell Heupel we will pay any fine.
Heupel saying something will not change one thing. do you not see them giving the refs hell on the sideline and it still does nothing? how is Heupel saying something in a press conference going to change anything at all? The answer is it won't. it just makes fans feel better for some strange reason.

This is the worst I’ve seen in a long time. Every single game has some unbelievably bad call or a review that makes absolutely no sense.
What would you expect from an organization with its headquarters in Birmingham Alabama. I’ve never understood that crap either We will have to beat Al and the refs on Saturday.

Silly. If coaches are calling it out the league has to act.

The refs are the only staff in college football that face zero consequences for being terrible at their job. Nobody’s saying a coach should get on camera and call someone a blind idiot for getting it wrong— but they should absolutely be able to say something like:

“There was a play where the opposing coach called a timeout, then decided he didn’t want it, and the clock was reset with no timeout charged. I’m not sure why the officials made that call and would like clarification — we’ll be submitting a complaint.”

The fact that coaches can’t even say that without risking fines or sanctions is ridiculous.

what would you say if the SEC HQ was in Knoxville and the same calls were still being made against us? 😂

I'm sorry but we have a lot of coward coaches in the league for refusing to speak their minds. Until a coach or coaches put them on blast and accepts the fines, nothing will change.

The only good thing about Saturday is that Kirby made that sideline ref look like an absolute jackass on national tv with the clapping / timeout fiasco.

I will be interested to see if Kirby gets a friendly whistle going forward.

the coaches already call it out behind the scenes. but the reality of this whole situation is that for every call that goes against you they will call on for you that you don't deserve. every coach knows they've gotten away with calls that should not have been called

But if he does it, then all the talking heads and sound bites for the next few days would be about the coach who called out the refs — why he did it, whether he crossed a line, and every pundit would chime in. That kind of attention would actually put pressure on the SEC to fix its officiating.

And just to be clear, I’m not upset at your point of view — you’re making valid points. I just see it differently.

Where would you have them put the headquarters. Sheep love being victims. They’d cry and create a conspiracy no matter where you put the HQ.

There’s reasonable expectation that coaches, administrators, and staff do not criticize officials publicly. Any criticism should be conveyed privately to conference leadership.

The SEC should lead an effort to bring professional officiating to CFB. Professional officials will still be human and make mistakes, but there should be appreciable improvement over the current situation.
