Movies you've seen recently II

I saw a really good one Friday night called Eden with Jude Law and Sydney Sweeney. It is based on a true story. It's about these people that settle off on what was once a deserted island in South America called Floreana. And some of the settlers had problems co-existing with one another, causing conflicts. Very good movie to watch.
Did Anna and or Sydney get neckit?

From what Ive seen the critics didn't like it, but that rarely stops me. Lol.

Kind of. Ana came out of the water wearing a slip and you could pretty much see what she has through it. Sydney showed one boob briefly. But her character was breast feeding her infant son, so because of that, it didn't really do anything for me, though.

Roofman. I went to see it earlier today. I came away enjoying it more than I thought I would. The trailer gave the impression that it was a comedy, but it wasn't. Based on a true story. It was a pretty good way to pass 2 hours.

Currently 1:15 am and I'm flipping channels and found a movie from 2015 -

Navy Seals vs. Zombies.

Its pretty much what you'd expect 😆

Naked Gun. Slightly to mildly disappointed. Didnt have the wall to wall jokes I was expecting. Tough to measure up to the original and I appreciate the swing but 6/10

Tron: Ares - 7/10, not the direct sequel to Legacy I was hoping for but pretty good with some great respect shown for the original movie. NINs soundtrack was solid and Jared Leto doesn’t grate on your nerves.

Thief (1981)
Directed by Michael Mann

I always loved Heat but never saw Thief before. James Caan is excellent. You can see the style that Mann carried forward to the Miami Vice tv show and Manhunter. Soundtrack by Tangerine Dream. Streamed for free on Amazon Prime.

One Battle After Another is straight amazing. Beautiful, great characters and it moves for a long movie. 9/10

Begonia with Emma Stone and Jessie Plemons coming out.

I don't want to spoil it, but it's based on a book I once read, and I love the story and ending. It's like a satire/comedy/drama/crime/horror/sci-fi which is a hard mix.

I hope the movie is as good as the book.

New jurassic world is garbage, minus ScarJo
Yeah, by and large I couldn't come up with much positive either. It also had one of my biggest pet peeves. The guy with the nerve agent/paralysis gun doesn't appear to aim at all. In fact, from memory I can't even remember if it even had much in the way of sights. Also that appeared to be the only real "weapon" taken on the whole expedition. What the everlovin hell?

I did kind of appreciate what I can only assume was an outright homage to the Rancor scene in ROTJ.

I watched Land of Bad on Netflix. If you're in the mood for good action, gunfights and bombs blowing up,this is the movie for you.

Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)
Directed by Peter Weir

This film gets chosen in many of the Criterion closet videos. It’s one of Weir’s earliest movies and he later went on to make Dead Poets Society and The Truman Show. It’s a “horror in the daylight” similar to The Stepford Wives which I also like. Very ominous feel throughout. Great cinematography.

an obscure film I had never really heard of, The Day Shall Come. 2019. Great cast, quick, witty writing. I enjoyed it a great deal even if the ending was a total bummer.
