Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I was just about to post that these other schools might be pushed to move on from their coach quicker than they planned just so they're not behind all these other schools with vacancies. You have to think there are some tough discussions going on at UF about moving now or giving Napier the chance to win a few more and delay their search.

You’re sweet on Golesh bc he was here, I get that. I’m a fan also.

Golesh is trying to do what Rhule has already done 2x. Maybe now 3x depending on how the rest of Nebraska’s season goes.
Rhule is equivalent to Butch Jones in my book. He’s around .500. He’s 5-1 this year after beating nobody of significance.

I hate when we play zone. Banks does it against every mobile QB. I get that you don't want your DBs to have their backs turned to the QB if he takes off running, but we give the QB nothing but easy wide open throws when we play zone. At some point you have to man up and hope your front seven keeps the QB from running and that the QB has to make a more difficult throw.

Isn’t it great that a “down” game from our QB is now…..

280 all purpose yards
A TD
No turnovers
And a W

What a turn of events
On top of that, his family is very humbled and grateful to be at Tennessee. I appreciate the heck out of him and his family's character

Our guys never seem to believe the point of zone is still to prevent the other team from catching the ball. They think the point is to tackle them after 7 yard gains every time. Nobody ever sticks to their man when he runs into their zone, they just stay rooted to their spot till he catches it.

He’s .500 bc he’s taken over bad teams and built them up. His Y3 at every school is when you see the work (it’s Y3 @ Nebraska so we’ll see if that trend holds). The problem is then he has bounced for another job.

Just like Golesh who was 2 games over .500 before being 5-1 in Y3.

This could be the season when Banks does go. There will be a lot of openings.
What is insane to me is if that happens there will be people celebrating, but the same tendencies of a Banks defense on a Heupel-coached team, will be anyone's. We will always give up gawdy passing yardage numbers because we are focused on forcing the other team to beat us throwing every game we play. I expect rushing defensive numbers to improve now that we are healthy. We need to outrush every team we play and we will win 9/10 times.

Fanbase is ready to riot. But another fan pointed out that was pointless because the UAA isn't Tennessee.

I’m not hanging my hat on Golesh. Just said he was a better option than the others on that ChatGPT list. You really want a guy that bounces before he gets found out about. Not if you’re a school that just paid Franklin’s buyout. Rhule will not be successful there. Feel feee to keep that in your receipt book.

But it's not like Banks is the only coach that coaches like this. Stacking the box and playing zone behind it is a recipe that has worked lots of times before against teams that scare you more on the ground than through the air. I like the approach. I have no issues with it.
