Penn St fires James Franklin

Noise out of Florida is Norvell and Napier will be done by tomorrow. Things are also happening at Auburn. Can probably throw UNC and USC into the mix of openings. Several others aren't far from making a change.
Pretty wild to beat Bama to begin the year and then get canned a month later.

I am surprised he got axed only because of the large buyout.

You would think 1) they found somebody to step up and fund it and 2) they have a Plan B already in the works.

Really curious to see how this plays out. They may have looked at A&M and think things could only get better for them too.
Yeah the buyout is what really surprises me. They aren't a poverty program, but they don't have Texas money.

I'm firmly on team chaos as long as we stay out of said chaos.

That’s great for Dan Mullen. Go 12-0 at UNLV for a season and wind back up in the SEC or ACC

I won’t be shocked if there is a reduced buyout with them mutually splitting this early in the season.

I'd be willing to bet today there will be multiple firings, especially in the SEC and ACC. Some program will be coming for Franklin.

Who else besides Sunbelt Billy do you see getting canned in the SEC?

Stoops, but there's no way Franklin would sink low enough to go to KY.. Arkansas will just remove the interim from Petrino.

FSU is gonna have to do something with Norvell. I'm don't think that would make a run at a failed coach though? UNC maybe if BB leaves.

Freeze has gone as far as he can off riding his two wins over Saban as he can.

Auburn SHOULD kick the tires on him. Especially since the AD is not having to pay an exit package with Pearl and the basketball program.

I would love for FSU to make a change and we make a run at Gus to come in and be the OC. Heupel needs some sort of experienced coach to help with game management

Auburn is still paying off Harsins contract aren't they?

I'm not so sure that Auburn would not have their own Schiano Sunday if their AD tried to push through Franklin. Those folks are on edge down there lol. God bless em. I remember what it's like.

Franklin being unable to win big games is gonna cripple him for getting another big time job

This seems rash.

Has to be some kind of massive issue between the athletic department and Franklin. Total breakdown in their relationship or something.

Penn State ain't TAMU, they don't just have Scrooge McDuck piles of oil money lying around everywhere.

They’re spending 700 million in the next few years on stadium renovations. Apparently they do have some dough lying around.

I think Auburn really thought they had Kiffin locked down and when they didn’t happen, they took crazy pills

We lost out on Penn State commits Kevin Brown OT and Davion Brown WR. They were both priority recruits for Tennessee. Also, Tony Rojas LB was heavily recruited by the Vols and enrolled at PSU. He was having a heck of a season stopping the run before injury. Maybe some of these guys end up in Knoxville.

Right but there are some schools who have been down to the point where they would be thrilled with 9-3 seasons the first few years after hiring him.

Like no team that is one step away from contending titles is gonna hire him.

But some of these schools trending down would kill for him.

Hell look at how far Wisconsin has fallen. They’d be thrilled with 9-3
