They were getting worked and Kirby got in the ear of the official and got a ghost call. They never called targeting on the play so it shouldn’t have been reviewable

No matter where they go they get home cooking.

Targeting doesn't have to be called by the refs. It 's my understabding that it can be buzzed down by the replay booth at any time before the next snap.

It wasn’t a part of the equation until Kirby waddled his lard ass over there. They made it clear it was a review to see if the pass was complete.

The ball broke the goal line. It just has to touch it and it’s done. It was clear to everyone but they needed a call and got it.

The refs should have been brave enough to call it a GA TD if they were going to make the call they did as it didn’t seem like there was a whistle (intent to blow?) but they tried to make the weakest call possible because they weren’t sure whether the ball crossed the plane or not.

He hit him just below the head and neck area from the angles they showed on replay. There may have been some head contact but it did not appear to be obvious helmet to helmet to me. Stockton easily could have been a runner there and barely got the ball off. UGA had a very obvious helmet to helmet on a guy in a worse situation to me later in the game where a TE was being held up for the defender with plenty of time who decided to lower his head for a crown of the helmet shot on a guy who was being tackled already and the refs didn’t even bother to review it. That one seemed more obvious to me.

These defenses are also ignoring all of the stoppages in a row on UGA’s last drive of the first half to review things that should have been obvious live and give UGA a timeout after almost every play. I also disagreed with the roughing the passer call when it was basically part of the tackle and the shoves were extremely mild. I think there are a ton of tackles like that that are not called and are worse than that.

Auburn did create momentum with their fans. That’s why it was 10-0 when Auburn is mediocre. Momentum was taken away. Home teams should receive home cooking and 50/50 calls, and I think home teams receiving 50/50 judgment calls should be a rule

Then take the time to let everyone know what’s being reviewed. Not like they were in a time crunch anyway.

I’ll be honest, the ball dislodged upon contact. That’s crystal clear from the elevated angle. When synced up with that pylon camera, contact happens before the plane. The ball looks like it’s maintained by Arnold as it breaks the plane but it wasn’t. It was just the angle of how he held it before it contact against his chest.

The ball slides back between his arm and chest as it breaks the plane in that elevated angle.

I think that while it slid down in this arms at it broke the plane, they decided that he wasn’t in control of the ball.

I do think they had to go with the call on the field based on those replays regardless even if they had ruled it a touchdown initially.

There was no overruling the call based on those replays, fumble or touchdown

Auburn called a timeout after the obvious targeting on their player and it went to break, giving plenty of time for a review, shouting at the ref the entire time, and the announcers stated aloud that a review should have happened after returning from the break. Freeze shouted at the ref like the entire last half of the second quarter and the first half of the third quarter

If you sync that up with the elevated angle from the corner, you can see the ball move as soon as the Georgia player makes contact with the ball.

This still frame is after that as the defender’s entire fist is where the ball was initially in Arnold’s hands.

If you were to back this stillframe up to when his fist first makes contact, it’s not breaking the plane.

I guess I can't comment on this play as I haven't seen it and don't know the context. I was flipping between games all day.

I believe the refs were unsure on the call and called the middle option to have the least effect on the game. I don’t actually think the refs on the field blew the whistle (maybe they’d argue intent to blow like they have done against UT to mess us over but I think that’s dumb), so I agree with the UGA fans if the fumble was the correct call.

To be clear, I believe there was helmet contact on the QB hit, but that the initial hit was to the upper chest and Stockton’s helmet rocked forward to hit the defender’s. I also think he presented himself as a runner until the moment he threw the ball similar to Michael Vick versus being defenseless in the usual way that is meant in the rule for airborne players

Like someone else said Freeze literally called timeout for just that and basically got the finger.

That dude was clearly calling timeout, then put on an “I’m a toddler tantrum” and got his way.
