Bad play calls go to Banks. But I’ve yet to see any VN football guru explain in detail the scheme Banks calls that doesn’t work and what specifically schematically the opposing offense is doing and then what specifically schematically the adjustments should be.

Heupel is a football coach’s son and safe to say he understands everything about intricacies of defense considering his offensive prowess, yes? You think if Banks is inadequate at teaching the defense that he wouldn’t do something about it? Not being a smart azz, asking legitimately.

Banks is the position coach of the safeties, the worst position group on the team at the moment.

Two observations, the refs absolutely refused to call anything against Arkansas.

Someone needs to pull Tim Banks aside and politely tell him that the defense sucks and maybe he should figure out why.

Don’t disagree but when those big rushing lanes are open before a RB even gets to the second level of the defense, that’s not on the safeties.

Let’s not act like S is the only position group underperforming.

Ohio state points per game took a nosedive after today’s performance. They were averaging giving up 5 points per game and are probably up to about 7 per game now. Indiana and Ohio State are legit.

We can beat Bama but it they are playing better than us right now. That’s why Vegas has us at around +10. Simpson has been killing it the past month.

To be fair Iw pile say every part of that game wasn’t ideal… the offense had times in the earlier position of the game to make some separation and crapped the bed. Defense sucked the first half and then woke up in a big way and then settled back again and started sucking again… gotta be more aggressive on the outside.

To be fair every year it seems we suck coming off a bye week… so there is that.

People freaking out over the 2025 team not being dominant is shocking to me. Considering all the roster turnover and injuries I am pretty damn happy being 5-1. We are a solid team that can play with anyone.

We have holes but a potent offense with an opportunistic defense should have us competitive in every game and very likely a playoff team if we can win 2 out of 3 of Bama, UF and OU. I think we can and look out if we go into the playoffs mostly healthy.

This is what we need - a little positivity. One correction - we will beat Bama, OU and FL.
