This defense is legitimately bad.

Arky has a legit offense with a really good QB. Holding this Arkansas offense to 31 points is nothing to be ashamed of at all.
Giving up 7 3rd and longs is plenty to be ashamed of. We’re going to lose 2-3 more games solely because of this awful defense and Banks inability to scheme up anything.

The Arkansas team we just beat hung 35 points on Ole Miss in Oxford. You know, top four team in the AP?

Defense has its issues but it’s also one of the best at creating turnovers and sacks. I know it doesn’t fit lots of people’s narrative that they want to whine about nonstop, but they aren’t what you all claim them to be. People on this forum, probably this thread, were whining about the defense during and after the Miss State game like they didn’t score 6 less points than the offense did in regulation.

Again, they have issues to fix. Gave up way too many yards. However, let’s not pretend that they didn’t have 5 sacks and force 3 turnovers.

The team that almost got beat at home by Washington State?

Tonight was not an isolated event against a good team, we have the worst D in the league and have been bad against every opponent.

We either get a strip sack or they go 80 yards like a knife through butter.

They frankly played better than I thought they would. Arkansas is really really good on offense. We won the game and we’re 5-1. That includes being down our two starting cornerbacks for the majority of the season.

Sometimes our secondary seems to try to get as far as possible from a receiver. Most middle school secondary’s have more awareness. It’s truly disheartening.
That sums up how Banks teaches zone defense. Guys run to their spot, lock in on the QB, and have zero clue what any receiver is doing. They have zero idea where any of them are or what routes they are running. It’s just drop to your spot, stand there, and look at the QB.

And we’ve been shredded in zone for 5 years. McCoy masked a lot of problems last year just by being a super talent with great instincts.

Arion Carter I think is playing through injury and is maybe a half step slower.

But we need to rotate more on defense. We got some hungry young linebackers and defensive backs who need more playing time. Some of the best tackles I saw all night from the guys in orange were on special teams. Think some of these young defensive backs need to get some run at Safety. And I love Boo and have defended him and think he is uber talented, so it was awfully disappointing to see him jogging during a play after his man caught the football on a crossing route.

having a 10 yard cushion on the slot on 3rd down in the red zone is *crazy*

Boo and Telander cannot play anymore. Boo doesn’t care and Telander is not athletic enough to be on the field. They went straight at both of them all game with zero resistance.

UGA sucking on offense for pretty much the entire year, with the exception of the game against Tennessee, is a pretty big red flag.
Yeah that's pretty disappointing. I think at the end of the year letting that one get away will be big unfortunately.. That's not a typical Georgia team, they're very beatable and Tennessee choked that one away..

Yeah so bad up front….
Apparently this thread stayed negative…
For the record my post above was right after the strip fumble at the end of the first half (by our big boys).

You guys gotta lighten up. Defense lost contain on a few big plays but overall considering… we got a fun win in large part because of our defense…
