On this quote from the article: "As is his custom, Josh Heupel prescribed healing, fundamentals for freshmen and a brief holiday for all. Staff focus was on recruiting. Same format last season turned into a humbling upset loss at Arkansas."
To me the biggest difference between this time last year and this year is that we have some real leadership and experience at the QB position and the team as a whole seems to have come together more during the offseason. The defense is gradually healing as well which is a good sign for the back half. This team has a good chance to do something special if they can stay healthy. I'm trusting the staff won't need to fire them up for this one.
9-3 and missing the playoffs is not a successful season for us at this point. Being one of the twelve teams to make the playoffs is the bare minimum to having a successful season, and no team is getting in at 9-3, least of all, us!That’s where I’m at. I’ll take splitting those four 2-2 and it would be a very successful season, but if I had to take one loss, I would pick OU. The others I can’t stand to lose to.
Well, be prepared for 9-3. I don’t know if we get through this season, with this schedule, with only one more loss. What are we going to do, fire Heupel for a 9-3 season? Considering our QB situation, which has turned out well so far, and multiple first team injuries, we’ve got an uphill battle to make the playofffs. My point being that 9-3 is still a good season, considering all the variables. Of course, making the playoffs is the goal every season. Not making the playoffs doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good season.9-3 and missing the playoffs is not a successful season for us at this point. Honestly, I could not have told you one scant fact from Bobby's so called crash 13 years ago, but to think that Arkansas brought back their disgraced coach says a LOT about their program and, Fayetteville. Apparently, they have a bit of trouble attracting good, solid coaches - and while one cannot discount that they do attract some good local talent, who wants to live, play or coach in Fville?
No SEC game for us from here to eternity will ever be easy again, but with this much calamity in Fville, we are in the drivers seat for this weeks game for sure. Execute, hold the rock, and we will win. From there, our schedule hits the SEC gauntlet. Go Vols - stay focused. Baby steps.

If our offense can keep it up and remain a1. No one sensible would be calling for Huepel's job at 9-3. Thats ridiculous.
2. This schedule is a cakewalk compared to next year's schedule and it's only going to get tougher. If we can't get there this year...lets just say it may be a while.
3. Not making the playoffs would make it a disappointing season, period. To say it wouldn't is a lack of understanding where college football is in 2025. This is a playoff sport now. Bowls mean absolutely nothing! Back when it was a 4 team playoff, teams could still make a prestigious bowl like the Sugar or the Orange bowl if they didnt make the 4 team playoff. Now the playoffs have eaten up all the bowls that matter. It would be like saying our basketball team going to the NIT tournament instead of the NCAA tournament was a successful season.
