So flying the english flag is now racist.

Would you say effective communication is necessary for a people to live in a peaceful and prosperous nation?
I would most certainly not say people who don't speak English are preventing us from living in a peaceful and prosperous nation, that's abhorrent. Blaming "foreigners" for every perceived problem is stupid

I haven’t seen anyone say that. But it’s telling that you refuse to answer the question.
It's telling that you have to obfuscate and rewrite the question because "would you say speaking English is necessary for people to live in a peaceful and prosperous nation?" sounds stupid and xenophobic

If all a people have in common is that they live within some arbitrary boundaries someone drew on a map they are not a nation. Just look at the Middle East
So with no official language we've never been a nation? We have nothing in common except our language? Fakest and whiniest "issue" ever

You sound defensive and unable to comprehend logic.
"Logic" would lead you straight here, but you ran away from it

We’ve never needed an official language because until recently immigrants made an effort to learn English.
not really. go back to any time period of mass migration from race/nationality X. you will find massive population centers who did not speak english at the time. it was only over generations that they did switch over.

before the World Wars, particularly 2, there were eff tons of German speaking towns in the US. we were 1/4 german at one point in time. How many China Towns, Little Italys, and the like will you still find non-English signs?

I can tell you, if I want some type of ethnic food, including Mexican, I am looking for a place where most, if not all of the workers, first language better not better English.

All empires fall and ours is no different. One day it will fall. We are destined for either a one party authoritarian regime or balkanization. Without some commonality, similar goals or beliefs or language or culture ext we have but 2 ways to go.
out of the things that are going to divide this nation, lacking a common tongue is probably reason number #548.

Be my guest and show some stats on this. How many 1st generation German immigrants pre WW2 never learned English? Or pick any other immigrant group for all I care.

Then show us the stats for 2nd generation immigrants in the same time frame. It didn’t and doesn’t take generations.

You literally call us fascist.

Your side loves fear mongering.

And by the text you send you want us dead.

So you can't call fascism "fascism?" LOL

We literally have the Trump admin defying judges, attacking them in the press, bypassing due process and privacy protections from the Constitution, we've got troops in the streets of our cities that are unwanted from both the city and state governments, we're deporting legal immigrants over their speech, we're doing loyalty tests to the president, we're bombing fishing boats for no reason (can't even name the "terrorists" that we are certain we killed), the admin is finding all kinds of ways to punish the press and speech, and we can't call it fascism?

I get it if I were saying "MAGA fascists want you dead." That would be fear-mongering. But saying "MAGA fascism" is just an accurate label.

Under Biden and Obama I called it "authoritarianism," and I don't recall anybody here thinking that was fear-mongering.

Perfect cherry on top lol

I own two homes and cane field and a trucking business in Asia. My kids are first born here on my ex wifes side. My gf is South American.

I deal with immigrants all day long and majority of my business is foreigners. This is not an immigration issue. It’s a house built on sand can’t strand issues.

Language is a foundation and needed to promote growth.

Oh and I just watched a guy lose 124k on two stolen vehicles in transport because he didn’t understand the agreement as he is Kurdish and his English is very very rough. I’m sure he wished he had learned English. Great guy but all I could tell him is I’m sorry for your loss.

Language isn't a problem. It's a minor inconvenience that most people rarely encounter. Language adoption has been a huge gripe of xenophobes opposing every wave of immigration, and the house we apparently built on sand with immigrants and all their preferred languages became the greatest economic power the world has ever seen.

You mean Irish and Italians and Germans turn of the century who blended in and learned English fluently?

Hey huff. What happens when a computer code suddenly cannot communicate with another code?

System failure?

Why is that Huff?
