FACTS! Seeing a sea of orange, whether on the tv screen or in person always sends chills through my body! I loveee seeing it on tv during tournament time! The only way the players and coaches can instantly tell that there are Lady Vols fans in the arena during road games is if the fans are wearing ORANGE. Those are the ones they see and think, immediately, "Look how many Tennessee fans are here!" The orange sticks out in any crowd. Not blue shirts. Not white shirts. Not black shirts. ORANGE is what they see, which is why I never have, nor ever will, wear any other color shirt on game day other than orange. My Summitt blues and every other color shirt/hoodie I own are what I wear when NOT at games.
There are pros and cons to doing this, and sometimes the pros (catering to the insatiable desires of a rabid fanbase to get a look at how their beloved team is doing) are outweighed by the cons (giving the rabid fanbase a look at how the team is doing only for a portion of the fanbase to go hypercritical/negative all over social media if they don't all look like Candace Parker).I’ll admit I haven’t watched the video and agree Tennessee fanbase should take over the arena to make a statement. I agree with Coach Caldwell.
I also think the coaching staff and program needs to give the fans a more open look of the new team and atleast build that excitement beyond a few snippets here and there.
Even if it’s only a photo section post per day or a short clip on the social media pages. Things just seem too concealed right now.
Let the fans see the team in action at practice … around campus… etc. The men’s basketball page has been very active this offseason.
Secret Ninja assassins don't share their training video; heck they don't even make training videos; and anyone who even mentions they exist is AAAARGGH...There are pros and cons to doing this, and sometimes the pros (catering to the insatiable desires of a rabid fanbase to get a look at how their beloved team is doing) are outweighed by the cons (giving the rabid fanbase a look at how the team is doing only for a portion of the fanbase to go hypercritical/negative all over social media if they don't all look like Candace Parker).
I definitely enjoy the rare glimpses we get, but I also can't blame the staff if they don't want to risk exposing the team to too much criticism before they've even played a game yet. We have to keep in mind that there are lots of new players learning so much so quickly, so they may still not be ready for Mr. DeMille's closeup. Which is fine. They'll get there, but depending on the team's personality, it really might be best to not risk bruising their confidence if they are still a little rough around the edges and our eagle-eyed fanbase sees that and immediately starts sounding alarms.
Y'all know we're like that. We can't be trusted to stay calm and trust the process!![]()

I feel exactly the same. Last season for our home games it was disappointing to see so much Summitt blue, and I blame the popular retailers for pushing it so hard because they are making a ton of money off of the trendy color in all types of apparel. It gave people who had closets full of orange an excuse to start a whole NEW collection -- only they wear the stuff to the dang games and look like UNC fans instead of Tennessee Lady Vol fans. Ugh.FACTS! Seeing a sea of orange, whether on the tv screen or in person always sends chills through my body! I loveee seeing it on tv during tournament time!
Do you get what the “Summitt Blue” means? Pat brought this color to the forefront many many moons ago and that’s why it is so important and popular to so many, so yes , Lady Vol nation would rather be in Summit Blue then Orange. Seems like some of yall are missing the point of it all.I feel exactly the same. No, I get it! 100% love that there's a Summitt Blue, and personally own at least 20 pieces of clothing in the color. I wear it lots of times around town, and I ALWAYS think of Pat as I'm proudly pulling on whatever I wear in her favorite color.Do you get what the “Summitt Blue” means?
