Take Care of Business Against Arky, It's On!!

We have similar situations leading up to the Oklahoma and Florida games as well. Prior to Oklahoma, we have Arkansas, @bama, @kentucky while they have Texas(neutral), @South Carolina and Ole Miss. Prior to Florida, we have Oklahoma, Bye, New Mexico St while they have Georgia(neutral), @kentucky, and @Ole Miss.
I think our situation sets up much better vs Florida than theirs does vs us.

It’s all about the miscues under Heupel. Limit those, and this could be an easy win. Just thinking about last years game - hit the Arkansas punter and gave them the ball back, I believe they then scored. There were also some big offensive plays that got called back for various penalties.

I’m also thinking about how Bama was only able to score 23 against Vandy before a late TD made it seem different than it was. We are going to be able to score on the gumps, it will come down to us pressuring their qb and stopping their run. If we can do that and not make stupid mistakes I say we have a good shot to win. Gotta keep our foot on the gas and don’t let off the steam though or they will find a way to win.
Stopping their run will be a tall task for the Vols defense I'm afraid. Unless something changes soon that is

jravol178,It was the 97 season, after which the national championship game was played in Jan. 1998.
I wanted to correct this but technically I can’t. Tennessee did play in the national championship game in January 1998. But it was the Orange Bowl against Nebraska and we didn’t win. The bowl alliance called that the title game that year. The Fiesta Bowl was January 1999. So really we played in two straight.

The Stoerner fumble game was November 14, 1998

The national championship game that culminated in Tennessee’s national championship was :
The 1999 Fiesta Bowl, the designated BCS National Championship Game for the 1998 season, was played on January 4, 1999, in Tempe, Arizona at Sun Devil Stadium.

Thought this was fairly common knowledge unless you are referring to the 1998 National championship in which Nebraska’s orange bowl victory over Tennessee awarded the Championship to Nebraska .

No. It wasn’t. There was no fumble by an Arkansas QB in 1997.

Tennessee was the 1998 National Champions, after winning the national championship bowl game in 1999 because that’s how college football has worked since well before I was born.
The stats sheet you provided is not correct. Peyton Manning on the stats you provided was QB. Vols won with the NC with Tee Martin at QB. Plus Jamal Lewis played in that game (97) referenced and he did not play in the any 98 games after he sustained an injury in the Auburn game.

No I posted to support your stance. Don't be so defensive. I guess you have to be on this board with all these young "whipper snappers".
My apologies. When you used the term “incorrect,” I thought you were trying to back the other guy claiming 97 was the NC year.

No problem. I have gotten to the age of which I am tried of dealing with a generation of those who think they know everything and will counter every fact, right or wrong, just to win a discussion. This method is getting old the older I get.

The original poster should have just researched it himself to figure it out, but evidently not capable or too lazy.
