The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

Is this the ur our Vols make the final four and do I dare say, win the entire thing?

Who has the best odds as of today? I’ve listed the below not known knowing the rosters: -

Duke, Michigan state, Purdue, kY, UConn, Texas tech, UCLA, Florida, Auburn, St John’s, Gonzaga, ….

Thoughts? Could this be the yr? Who has a better roster than the Vols? I live our front court if healthy.

Well for one it was a grammatical headache to try and read, that might be one reason you’ve gotten no response. On top of that there’s websites that list the betting favorites to win it all if that’s what you’re asking.

Now I remember why i don’t post often in this forum.

While most have knowledgeable comments and opinions, you’re known to take jabs @ others behind your keyboard.

I inadvertently typed the same sentence twice but cleaned it up, along w/ the two “grammatical” errors.

Websites- some enjoy opinions of others instead of scouring the web. Many have jobs so…. Hope your day improves.

In theory, we should have as good a chance as anyone. That is, given the assumption that this is an average year for those teams.

However, as is true every year, but especially this year with all of the changes on our team, you never know until you see them play a good team or two. That said, I am as confident as ever. I think we are past the days when we have to depend on one or two players to carry the whole team, hoping we do not have to use any reserve players. We can complain about a lack of proven depth at shooting guard maybe, but overall, I think we are a well rounded team with few if any deficient areas. We should be hard to beat.

Guard play is my primary concern w/ ZZ no longer on the roster. I think this may be our best front court in yrs - need a healthy Estrella.

Tennessee has the 16th best odds per FanDuel to win it all, that’s pretty similar with the preseason ranking they’re getting from many folks and where I think the AP & Coaches poll will also have us. I think we’re a Top 5-15, obviously that’s a wide range but there’s a lot of questions and in reality that’s likely only the difference in 1-2 games. I think we’re have a Top 5 PG in the country and a likely Top 5 NBA Draft Pick in Ament, the question is 2 guard, and can we have a post or 2 step forward and assert themselves above the others, we’ve got good depth there but as of now there’s a lot of questions there and not necessarily a ton of answers.

Yikes…..gotta admit I did not see things souring this quickly for DK.

What changed in one year? He played well when he got minutes. Then LA attempted to trade him and things went south after the trade fell through. His minutes depleted when LA traded for Doncic (sp), but I didn’t realize he was viewed as an afterthought by the rest of the league.

The best case scenario is for him to get a fresh start away from LA Lakers.

He played horrible in summer league and just as bad so far in Preseason.

still, I’d take these “negative asset” rumors with a grain of salt. It’s the type of thing that gets planted by a team trying to actively trade for him and ward off suitors.

Ultimately, I think his best option is to get traded to a tanking team for like 2 second round picks where they will let him play, score 17-18 a game and then flip him next year for a first round pick on the last year of his rookie deal.
