It appears than only LSU and Texas can compete with the Vols on the recruiting trail. How much more NIL does LSU and Texas have or is it more of a history of success?
LSU, Texas, and Tennessee are essentially playing a different game than everyone else when it comes to recruiting. From a high school and portal standpoint. Texas has more NIL than anyone, and I'd guess they're leveraging it pretty well. But just like when Schloss was at TCU with Tony building his roster, it's all being done off the work of Nolan Cain. With Tennessee and LSU, NIL plays into it, but both programs have buy in at every stage from the administration, the entire coaching staff, and the roster. Both have tireless recruiters for head coaches with a clear vision on how they want to run their programs. And both have top notch strength and conditioning coaches.

Weirdly for the 2027 class so far, it doesn't seem like there is a huge overlap on targets between LSU, Texas, and Tennessee. Between the three programs they're going to end up with like half of the players in the top 100, which means that a lot of them will get to campus, because all three are finding guys with genuine interest in getting to campus.
