McCoy May Return For Arkansas

Adrian Peterson’s recovery made ACL recovery expectations skyrocket at that time. Today I have no doubt that he would have been held out for a longer recovery time.

9 months has become the standard for most. I know of some guys pushing things at 6 months.

I have serious doubts he plays this year. We all remember seeing him doing some drills out on the practice field back in preseason…turns out he hasn’t been back out there since August. Some kind of set back. Regardless it’s only been 9 months. Maybe he’ll shock us all tho.

ZZ came back quicker than expected. Can't recall the time frame, but the stresses of basketball have to compare favorably to CB I suspect.

Even Jamal Lewis in 99 wasn't as good as his 98 yr before his acl tear, most of the guys on the 99 squad were looking ahead to the NFL, would have been interesting to see how we fared vs fsu in 99. Had ark not beat us, it would have been interesting, would it been us or VA tech chosen. Plus we shouldn't have lost that Florida game even when they knew our snap count, we had a couple chances. Just to think we beat them in 98, should have won 99&00, won in 01&03, that 02 was just horrid, won in 04.

Heupel was asked about it in today’s presser and all he said was McCoy is progressing well. Nothing else.
I saw where he said "he's got more [rehab] to go" he also said whoever floated the rumor that he might be back for Arkansas doesn't understand JM's situation.

I'm sticking with my early season feeling that we may not see JM again as a Vol. He's got too much to lose by trying to come back too soon.

You’re slightly misinterpreting what was actually said, which I posted below and is different than your implication that McCoy won’t be back.

Wes has different words than this quote from 247 sports on Heupel response:

On Jermod McCoy hitting any more benchmarks: "He continues to do a great job in his rehab with our medical staff and strength staff. Somebody told me there was a report of a game he was focusing on for a return. I don’t think that’s a fair understanding of the situation. He’s done a good job and has more to go. He has to be ready to go play and there’s a lot that goes into that. You’re balancing his ability to be prepared and his short-term and long-term situation as well."
