Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Tried to look up who you were talking about. I was surprised how many WRs VT put in the NFL but couldn't figure out who you're referring to. It is his size, and he's just not stronger than the DBs he's facing at this level. If one gets physical at the LOS with him it's over. You have to play him at slot to avoid that. I haven't seen where the Giants are playing him.
Found him. Did not go to Virginia tech. Not sure why I thought that. But even he has more muscle on him than Hyatt from pictures. I wonder if adding 10-15 pounds would really make the difference. If it was that simple, you’d think, as a professional, not sure why he wouldnt be able to do that.

Edit: ok so apparently there is a family of fullers that went to Virginia tech and even though I couldn’t remember clearly enough to say the last name I could remember it subconsciously and knew the name was associated with that school. Funny how the brain works. @RandomUTfan

The balance of our season is on Tim Banks. Just yesterday I saw half the SEC has better performance on D than ours. Most had worse natural talent. With a few of the losing teams, their D's kept them in the game.

UT with 5 games played - Defense
29 PPG - #13 in the SEC, only Arkansas is worse and three of the D coaches were just fired.
373.4 YPG - #12 in the SEC, only Arkansas and Kentucky give up more.

With the #1 O nationally at 51 PPG and #6 at 536.4 YPG (which could have been #1 if we left the first team in longer) - we know they are THE best in the SEC at offense.

It would be very sad if Heup and the team are not able to take advantage of what he has put together on O due to crap schemes, calls, and player performances on D. The D roster is better than mid-SEC grade talent wise. We need performance to match like a dozen others of our peer. Start by not overthinking everything. Start by playing less pure zone in the secondary. Start by not having CB's stand 10 yards away from the LOS. Start by having enough guys in the box subject to opponent formation and tendencies.

If we are totally dependent on the performance of a couple of players who have been injured - we are not developing the talent well in addition to scheme and calls. Get it done, Banks.
I need to point out how many times we have MS State a short field last week. Our O didn’t help our defense at all.

This. And if you subtract the points our defense scored from points allowed, we're probably higher on the list.

Banks has not been great, but his defense saved the MSU game.

I’d wager a pretty hefty bet Colorado is NOT winning.

I like USC over Michigan more but there’s a chance Michigan just bullies their DL all day and runs for a bajillion yards. That might even be the most likely outcome.

I like FL’s chances to keep it really close and have a chance to win that game.

And USCe over LSU bc I’ll never be an LSU believer.

I feel like Iowa State is overrated...only beat Kansas State by a FG, only beat Iowa by a FG...nearly lost to Arkansas State the following week. And then did lose at Cincinnati now they get another road game against a Colorado team that lost by 7 to GA Tech (still undefeated) lost to Houston (only a 1 loss team) in a game that was close until basically the 4th quarter, lost by just a FG to BYU (still undefeated) when the fighting Mormons scored a go ahead TD with less than a minute left.

TCU thumped up...but it was a tied game with only about 6 minutes left then TCU scored 2 TDs late to separate.

Having watched most of their games...Colorado is playing well enough to win, and GA Tech was the only loss where they won the turnover battle...so it's been pretty self inflicted these last 3 losses.
