Vanderbilt @ Alabama Saturday 3:30 Eastern on ABC

Alabama adds an extra TD to make sure Vanderbilt fully drops out of the rankings 31-14 with less than 20 seconds left.

I actually missed the play but saw him waltzing into the end zone. I'm wondering if it was a tacky score. I thought they'd down it to end the game. I wonder if Vandy thought they would do the same.

It’s also enough of a score difference that Vanderbilt will drop out of the top 25 (even though they should probably stay in the 20s given it’s their first loss).

They aren't dropping out the Top 25 but it was probably a classless score just to look like they won by a lot.

Well, one thing is for sure—Vandy will be a tough out for a lot of teams the rest of the way. They are a good team who really did a lot to beat themselves in this game.

There’s been a past tendency for the polls to drop “team that’s traditionally bad but off to a good enough start that we had to start including them in the rankings” like a rock once they lose their first game…especially against a more traditionally strong opponent and if the final score makes it look like they got thumped.

I’d hope they keep them in the 20s (it feels like it’s the right thing to do).

Two turnovers in the opponents redone; that’s tough in this kind of game.

You hold onto the ball at the 8 in the first and force that pick at the 9 in the 4th, it’s anywhere from a 3 point deficit to a 1 point lead in those last 3-4 minutes.
