I'm expecting this to be a revenge shellacking, but if the game is still tight into the mid-late second quarter, the pucker factor will rise quickly in Tuscaloosa. Very interesting matchup that could turn out to be not so interesting, but we shall see. Vandy is significantly better than they were last year.

Gonna stir the pot . . . Mr. Pavia is channeling Joe Willie Namath with his “won’t be close” talk. He has also made a comment or two about our game. We like to say that it’s OK to talk smack if you can back it up. This feels like a put up or shut up moment. So, does Vandy
get blown out, cover the spread, or win outright?

Not necessarily cheering for Bama, but Vandy needs to be humbled. I hope they lose every game from here on out, Bama included.

Curious as to why so many want our most-hated rival to beat our lesser, but in-state rival. A Vandy win is much better for our Vols in the long-run for the CFP, as well. I just find it strange that some want the historical doormat program “humbled” when they are actually having the rare good season instead of the program that has blasted us for most of the past 2 decades. I, for one, hope Pavia & the ‘Dores back up their talk and send the Tide’s playoff hopes into a death spiral.

I would like both to lose - outside of that it becomes a question of what the outcome implies:

- If Vandy wins they will no doubt be in the top 10, well above the Vols in all polls next week and we will have to endure all the talk until they lose and fall out of that spot.
- If Vandy wins that SHOULD (key word because it might not) push Bama to be below us in all polls next week - but would not surprise me if they land at 15 and us at 16, just because they are Bama.
- If Bama wins big, Vandy is humbled and will fall in the polls.
- If Bama wins and it is a close game or OT, Vandy may not even take a hit in the polls at all.

There is also the fact that Bama doesn't lose at home much - I would rather the Vols to give them that loss at home than the boys from Nashville.

I don't think Bama will lose twice in one season at home. I would rather us be the one that takes the victory.

Plus Pavia needs to be taken down a notch. It is one thing to be confident in your ability - it is totally different to say the things he is saying. He needs to understand the consequences of running one's mouth verses concentrating on game prep and proving it on the football field.

Very strange that he is fueling this knowing that this is one date that has probably been circled on the schedule. It is one thing to lose to Georgia, Tennessee or LSU - Top teams in the SEC just don't lose to Vandy and they tend to prove that point in the following year.

They’d jump above Tennessee but not all the way into the top 10. There’s too many teams between them that there would need to be some losses to create enough flow to push them that high.

If everything else goes as expected to with the other higher ranked teams, Texas Tech would more than likely jump into the 10 spot; Vanderbilt would most likely top out around #11, possibly #12 (for reference, teams #2, 4, and 8 are on byes; #1 Ohio State plays unranked Minnesota, #3 Miami plays #18 Florida State, #5 OU plays Kent State, #6 Texas A&M plays Miss State, #7 Penn State plays winless UCLA, #9 Texas plays 1-win Florida, and #11 Texas Tech plays Houston).

As much as I despise Alabama. I really want the tide to put a beat down on Vandy. Living in middle Tn and hearing the Vandy fans actually talking about a possible CFC is difficult to stomach. I want Alabama to destroy Vandy and put them back in their place as the perennial cellar dweller. Obviously, I don't want anyone to suffer a career-ending injury, but I do want their spirit broken. The haughty, silver-spoon fed crowd from the Southwest side of Nashville needs a reality check. One would have to live here to understand this opinion.
And, after Bama destroys Vandy, UT can march into Tuscaloosa and do the same to Bama.

That’s not entirely guaranteed either, based on the “they don’t lose a lot at home” logic.

Honestly, Alabama already having another loss to give them less wiggle room in their season (and in turn potentially also give Tennessee more wiggle room, if the Vols should drop another game to someone else) probably would be of more benefit to the Vols.
