IIRC the SEC is 4-2 against the ACC so far this year. you don't need to be perfect against the other teams to be "better" than them. and it goes beyond a single year too. I don't think anyone will really challenge that the Big 10 was better than the SEC in 2024. but if you are making a general statement about the conferences you aren't going to look at a single year, a single game, or a single team.My point is, we can't go away shouting about how bad other conferences are when SEC teams lose to them on the field. If we want to say SEC SEC SEC, perhaps don't have games like Alabama losing to FSU. It is also not like Alabama is a chump SEC team, they just beat Georgia.
I heard the same crap about the B1G last year when Ohio State dismantled Tennessee and Texas and the B1G had more playoff teams and playoff wins. You also had Michigan beating Alabama in a bowl game, Illinois beating South Carolina, etc. You can't say you're better and lose to them.
and as we saw with Ohio State last year, things can change during the year. They lost a close one to Oregon, and then blew them out in playoffs. the year before Ohio State got crushed by a middling Missouri squad from the SEC.
and regardless, I don't think it was an emotional claim, or some belief in the inherit superiority of the conference that led people to believing the SEC was better. it was based on facts, if that changes so be it.
