Those TWO things will produce the other two things you cite in run defense (better tackling) and get the field on 3rd down (better safety play).

I stand by original statement.

The defensive ends are not sitting the edge on run defense is another issue. Not arguing with you, just stating the way I see it, you can look at it anyway you like. Regardless I hope they get some of the issues fixed.

I dont think they win out if for no other reason than it's just going to be extremely hard for even the best of the best to go 11-1 anymore. But I think 10-2 is very possible.

Point taken. I do feel that for whatever reason we seem to have taken a step back this year when it comes to setting the edges, seems more like the left side than the right too.

I didn't take it as you arguing. It's what makes Volnation great. It's what makes America great. We can come in here and discuss our concerns, our wins, our losses, our lives as friends and neighbors.

I think I fall in the same camp as most everyone else in here - fix some issues and we can finish strong around 10-2 with a trip to ATL and the CFP...don't fix the current issues and we'll be somewhere around 7-5 to 9-3.

Thanks, I enjoy discussing things we see, enjoy discussing this with you, many on here want to call names and get ugly when they disagree with someone. Thanks for the conversation.

You've got to remember. If we are in a close game at the end we will be instructed to go into a shell and play not to win. You will have to account for one loss for this type of coaching. Remember in those down to the wire games with Florida almost every year when we were both at the top? Steve Spurrier was a coach that ALWAYS ended up being the difference in those Florida wins. We don't have that.

Safeties are handicapped by the pass rush. We are inconsistent. We are getting sacks and there are other times we are not even close to getting to the QB.

Well I would rather be on a positive mentality for fans, coaches and players. I think we failed being positive in the UGA game. Miss State looked like here we go again in the OT. I don't believe necessarily in Sun Pumping but you got to truly believe you are going to prevail instead of having a loser mentality at go time.
Every top SEC team is in Miss States head at go time.
UGA is in Vols head. we as a whole froze in the end at go time
Bama is in UGAs head, UGA froze at home at go time with better players IMO

I just view this team as a comparison to the NC team. Not in stats but in guts and close calls. Those are gut checks and I don't see this team losing because of gut checks and leadership. JA has proven he can get the job done. The Defense still has to come around and to win you have to play threw adversity and injuries.
It appears outside looking in that this team is focus.

Barring some kind of catastrophic event (i.e. QB injury, HC arrested, mass tragedy) we aren't losing 3 or 4 more.

Alabama and Oklahoma will be our toughest games, Florida while in the swamp will be a shell of the team we usually face.

No one else will come within 2 TDs of us
