1 - better tacklingWe need to dial in on more than 1-2 things on defense. Get better at run defense, better safety play, better tackling, getting off the field on 3rd down to name a few.
The defensive ends are not sitting the edge on run defense is another issue. Not arguing with you, just stating the way I see it, you can look at it anyway you like. Regardless I hope they get some of the issues fixed.1 - better tackling
2 - better safety play
Those TWO things will produce the other two things you cite in run defense (better tackling) and get the field on 3rd down (better safety play).
I stand by original statement.
Point taken. I do feel that for whatever reason we seem to have taken a step back this year when it comes to setting the edges, seems more like the left side than the right too.The defensive ends are not sitting the edge on run defense is another issue. Thanks, I enjoy discussing things we see, enjoy discussing this with you, many on here want to call names and get ugly when they disagree with someone. Thanks for the conversation.Point taken. I didn't take it as you arguing. It's what makes Volnation great. It's what makes America great. We can come in here and discuss our concerns, our wins, our losses, our lives as friends and neighbors.
I think I fall in the same camp as most everyone else in here - fix some issues and we can finish strong around 10-2 with a trip to ATL and the CFP...don't fix the current issues and we'll be somewhere around 7-5 to 9-3.
Safeties are handicapped by the pass rush. We are inconsistent. We are getting sacks and there are other times we are not even close to getting to the QB.1 - better tackling

Well I would rather be on a positive mentality for fans, coaches and players. I think we failed being positive in the UGA game. Miss State looked like here we go again in the OT. I don't believe necessarily in Sun Pumping but you got to truly believe you are going to prevail instead of having a loser mentality at go time.I know we have some tough away games left, but I think this team has the mental toughness and fortitude to win out this season. Plus, we have gotten some defensive players back to make us even better.
We had jawja beat, 1 score in the 2nd qt or making the field goal at the end and the games over in regulation. Coach froze our kicker or he hits that 3 points. Someone shouldāve took him aside and slapped him before he went out on the field for the kick.
MS game should not have been close, they had 1 75 yard drive for a touchdown, all other scores were on short fields because of interceptions. We had a missed catch with touchdown written all over it and a BS OPI that was a touchdown.
I am worried some about the gump game but I think we take them, sure they beat Georgia, but Georgia just did not look like they were ready to play.
Get this man some Orange Cool-Aid. Oh Yeah!I know we have some tough away games left, but I think this team has the mental toughness and fortitude to win out this season. Plus, we have gotten some defensive players back to make us even better.

You've got to remember. If we are in a close game at the end we will be instructed to go into a shell and play not to win. You will have to account for one loss for this type of coaching. Remember in those down to the wire games with Florida almost every year when we were both at the top? Steve Spurrier was a coach that ALWAYS ended up being the difference in those Florida wins. We don't have that.
Barring some kind of catastrophic event (i.e. QB injury, HC arrested, mass tragedy) we aren't losing 3 or 4 more.We could run the table, or we could lose 3 or 4 more. I predict it will be somewhere in the middle. With the defense near the bottom of the league it only takes a few turnovers, penalties or big plays given up and we lose. You saw that in the Miss. State game, as it took OT to beat a team we should have beaten by at least 14. Hopefully we get several defensive starters back playing close to 100% and our opponent scoring drops significant. If not, I see 1 or 2 more losses.
Steve Spurrier's record after his first 93 games as a HC: 69-25-2You've got to remember. If we are in a close game at the end we will be instructed to go into a shell and play not to win.
