2025/2026 Coaching Carousel

Any possibility of an update. I saw some other sites now including Dabo, Freeze. DeBoer not listed. LSU fans grumbling about Kelly, too.

Are there any odds on coaches likely to fill the vacated spots?

LSU fans should grumble, and very loudly. Huge step back in game performance this year with a highly touted roster. That O is like watching molasses outpace turtles.

Edit: He had Daniels for 2 seasons and lost 7. Garrett threw for 4K plus last year and still lost 4. Those 2 10 win seasons were anemic when you consider what he had and what he should have accomplished. And in retrospect to the early season this year, their failure to steam roll Clemson is looking sad.

The offense taking a step back makes no sense to me. They lost a lot on the oline- but I don't think thats been the problem.

Nussmeier has had good to elite play his entire time, had returning weapons, brought in two top transfers at WR, Brown and Anderson but its just never seemed to click.

Yep. He's a pretty elite QB, especially in the 2025 rosters accross the board. Just a head scratcher the way they look. And it's not just one game. They aren't clicking together for whatever reason, and they are not putting points on the board. Is it the OC? Is the O in totality just on different pages? Has BK roasted his presence with the team? They are pretty dang fun to watch except for this year. Makes you really miss the Les Miles years.

Texas too actually. Where is the Arch Manning that almost took Ewers job during the season last year?? He looked grade school against the cupcake games. And is still not quite back to what we saw last year.

To be fair, was this ever actually a possibility? Seemed to always be “he’s a Manning, of course he’ll take over!” narrative with no real basis in reality.

Maybe I’m wrong through.

Point being he was so good last year when he played, he could have, and there were camps of fans calling for it.

This year so far......

There were fans calling for it because fans always call for the backup QB when the starter doesn't play well. Ewers was failed by the same coaching that failed Arch Manning. Poll those same Texas fans and ask them if they want Ewers back.

It hasn't been officially confirmed, but a lot of people around their program have said Nuss is playing hurt. Some kind of shoulder problem. His throwing motion and overall mechanics are also a lot different from last year too.

Yep, Nuss is hurt. There are videos of his motion and mechanics last year versus this year. It appears (to me) that he has limited follow through on his passes. It's like his shoulder or abdomen is hurt.

Rumor is Nuss is playing injured because folks are noticing in games he lost the zip he had last year and what was big case of him being Heisman contender.

It's been officially confirmed by Brian Kelly who called it an abdominal strain but others inside the program have described a tear. He's resting it with the bye this week.

He didn’t look that impressive last year throwing the ball. In his 1 start when Ewers was hurt against a cupcake he was pretty pedestrian. Three for a bunch of yards but also a couple of picks.

I remember thinking that he wasn’t as good as Nico at the time… and seeing how Nico turned out and Arch wasn’t more impressive…

He's in a tough spot if that's true. He came back psecifically to imrpove some things and maybe feels he has to play, and if he's palying hurt under the radar, he's hurting his stock with the scouts.

Brian Kelly is a terrible human and a somehow an even worse coach. At the end of the day Ed O won a title at LSU and Kelly won’t.

That says a lot.

So at what point does Dan Mullen get talked about for bigger openings? He’s basically gonna go 11-1 or 12-0 at UNLV in his first year back coaching. Boise in two weeks is the last tough remaking game for the running Rebs.

He's being talked about for most of the open jobs. I'm just not sure if they are any he would take. Every one of those places is tough to win at. Perhaps UNLV is too but Florida is still paying him 1 million/year to coach for UNLV.

Florida made the mistake of firing him. He bungled the QB battle, but man Napier had been a downgrade. Obviously, a firing might cause some reflection and adjustments so hopefully Mullen has sorted it out.

If he has embraced the portal era, that will make up for his lazy recruiting. I genuinely like Mullen as I got to be around him a bit during his time in Starkville.

He sort of forced Florida to hire him. He asked them for more resources so he could win at a higher clip, they balked. He saw the writing on the wall and earned his buyout. Florida fans only ever complained about Mullen's recruiting. And he won there with what he had!

Mullen was trying to get Florida to invest more resources into recruiting so he COULD recruit better. And any coach in the country who wants inside information on the clustereff that is the Florida UAA will call Dan Mullen prior to taking a job there. That's a black eye. It's why they were forced to hire Napier and give him such a ridiculous contract they still refuse to pay what it would take to get rid of him.

I’m hopeful he ends up back in the SEC. He’d be a perfect hire for somewhere like LSU when they kick the tires on Kelly.

In another universe, UF would have dragged their feet on Mullen in 2017 and he ended up being HC here.

I honestly believe that he would have ended our dysfunction.

Dan is kind of a weird guy, but he's a helluva football coach. Anyone who wins as much as he did in Starkville is not dumb.

Another doozy by Currie.

Currie should have told Mullen to name his price to not wait on the Florida job opening process. Currie should have never let him leave without signing here.

JG might have actually been a useful QB here with a QB guru like Mullen.

He had a choice and he chose UF. Now, if he had it to do over? He might choose differently. But he is still on the UF payroll and he's coaching in Las Vegas so he's probably not terribly disappointed with the way things worked out. He'll get another shot.

But to be honest Tennessee was a mess when Mullen went to Florida. I can't blame him for not wanting to be a part of it, but today? The difference between the two couldn't be more stark.

He literally waited out the Florida job and dragged Tennessee on. Currie should have been a big boy and told him here is a contract that is crazy ass money and you have 24 hours to say yes or no and then it goes away.

Tennessee has been good about identifying “the guy” in searches but they always fumble the actual hiring process to get that person. They did it with Charlie Strong, they did it with Mullen, but they didn’t do it with Danny White who subsequent brought his guy along in Heupel from UCF

But then again, Schiano Sunday and Fulmer getting the AD needed to happen to clean out this program to where the AD and Admin cleaned house and set up the environment for Danny White. We hire Mullen and he’s successful and we avoid the Pruitt years, Haslam influence and Currie types are likely still around.
