What is the opinion on Mike McDaniel as our next HC, since the calls for him to get canned seem to be getting a lot louder. And with Hill out for the year, that is going to make winning games a lot harder. He is one of the premiere offensive minds in the NFL. He turned Tua and his pea shooter of an arm into an elite QB for a couple of seasons. The Tua concussion thing is a bit concerning though.

I also a fan of Brian Flores and his defenses. I think he'll get another shot as a HC soon.

I sure hope not. Especially at this point.

I think there was reason for optimism that he was a good offensive mind after working with Peyton, Stafford, Carr, and Burrow. I don't think anyone was under any sort of impression he made any of those guys any better, but there was optimism he learned a lot from those QBs and the offensive staffs he was involved with.

Unfortunately, it appears that optimism was ill-fated. He can't coach his way out of a paper bag.

Burrow and working with another generational QB in Manning, who apparently liked him.

To be fair, I think a lot of it was based on Jake Browning looking better than expected (with Callahan as OC) after Burrow got hurt in 2023

Callahan was OC in title only. He wasn't calling plays or developing these guys. That was all Zac Taylor.

Callahan was the Derek Dooley/Jeremy Pruitt of coaches. Nobody thought he was ready for that level except TN....

Bad coaches have attached themselves to great QBs and got head gigs. But no one was sniffing around until Amy called..

I don't know that I like trading Ridley. I want Cam to have the best chance we can give him to succeed. And I don't think we'd get anything better than a late rounder for him anyways.

Sneed I am find with trading. Even if it's for a 7th rounder. What a disaster of a trade that was. At least the draft capital was pretty minimal with basically just a 3rd round pick.

I think the Dolphins gave the right blue print. The issue they made is drafting a QB one year too early. They should have drafted anyone but a QB in 2020 and tanked that season and take Trevor Lawrence in 2021. Once it was clear they couldn't get Burrow in 2020, they should have tanked another season waiting for Lawrence.

The Titans don't have to tank, they are just going to earn the #1 pick the old fashioned way, be terrible.
Room for optimism: Coah will get fired, hopefully trade out of the top pick and get some serious haul, get a bunch of good young players, start over in new stadium.

Because he was drafted to the Jacksonville Jaguars who created a no win environment with the Urban Meyer fiasco.

Lawrence has made the best of that situation as much as he could. But he clearly would have had a better career elsewhere. Jags were a death sentence.
