The 90-minute event — which featured military officials who swore an oath to the Constitution attending something more akin to a campaign rally — had the feeling of a Hollywood production. Trump even instructed officials to “just have a good time.”

The meeting took place hours before a likely government shutdown, and struck some officials as a distraction that threatens to shift the military’s focus away from foreign threats toward an unprecedented domestic role.

“Not quite a loyalty test, but … on the spectrum of loyalty to ideology,” said a second defense official. “Total waste of money.”

This was a pep rally that could have been an email where Trump, as usual, showed himself to be a complete and utter buffoon. Hegsweth ranted and raved about sh!t he has zero experience or knowledge in as well. The only true upside is holding all combat jobs to 1 male standard.

You were when you decided to insult those at the Ryder Cup supporting the USA. You assume all golfers are Republicans. The Ryder Cup was filled with patriotism from players to fans. Sorry you hate America, maybe we can trade you for Rory and his appreciation for our country.

It’s pretty awesome! Is it perfect, no. But, I don’t see anyone here leaving for another flag anytime soon. I’m rather enjoying getting back to the common sense agenda in America and moving forward.

Going forward, I wonder how much of Hegseth's work day will be consumed by reviewing the daily PT reports of admirals and generals, to make sure they are getting their daily gym time in?

You don't don't announce foundational level or even fundamental level changes in an email, you hold a staff/leader meeting to announce them so that they are clear on your expectations.

I actually assume most of the US Ryder Cup team is democrat.
And most of the fans were great....there to support America while being respectful to the Europeans.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s surprise gathering of hundreds of generals and admirals in Virginia next week is being called so he can describe the administration’s reinvention of the Department of Defense as the “Department of War” and outline new standards for military personnel, according to half a dozen people familiar with the planning.

“It’s meant to be a show of force of what the new military now looks like under the president,” a White House official told CNN.

The meeting is expected to resemble “a pep rally” where Hegseth will underscore the importance of the “warrior ethos” and outline a new vision for the US military, said three of the sources. He is expected to discuss new readiness, fitness and grooming standards the officers are expected to adhere to and enforce.

“It’s about getting the horses into the stable and whipping them into shape,” said a defense official familiar with the planning. “And the guys with the stars on their shoulders make for a better audience from an optics standpoint. This is a showcase for Hegseth to tell them: get on board, or potentially have your career shortened.”
