Cowbells

I unfortunately deleted the game, so just wondering if any of you at the game and or who still have the tape of the game can confirm that the MS State fans followed the restrictions as outlined below by the SEC in 2010? Seems like I heard the cowbells during every second of the game. Maybe I was just suffering from CBS (Cow Bell Syndrome)??

We were up high on the visitor side with a large contingent of orange, but I don't recall them stopping at any point except when something good happened for the big orange. I didn't think they were overly loud, just an irritant. I also think it makes their fans lazy. They don't yell, stomp on the benches or clap. they just ring the bells. I didn't sense that it bothered our players as much as it probably bothered us fans. I didn't hear a single cowbell clang as we were exiting to the tune of Rocky Top though.

I think it 100% makes their fans lazy and less loud with their voices than they otherwise would be.

The thought never had occurred to me until our first offensive drive, but it makes perfect sense. I was amazed at how quiet it was. The cowbell is just so much louder than a person's voice can be, and when they can't ring them, I think they get kind of lazy. There aren't many of them yelling that loudly, and they can't clap because they're holding the bell. lol

With one end of the stadium being open, the acoustics aren’t great either. The cowbells still travel better but even if they all got on their feet and yelled it wouldn’t be loud.

I think it is actually a disadvantage to them. They ring the bells (dull sound not high pitch) right up to time to snap the ball and don't put much effort into yelling during the snap.
Yeah I noticed that too. Bella quiet and barely any noise after instead of a ramp up of crowd noise thru the snap

I never heard their band once the entire game. I heard our band from time to time over the bells, but even after their scores I never heard their band. I know they have one, do they do anything during the game or is it all cow bells?

The music blaring over the PA was louder than the bells in the section where we sat just behind the Tennessee band.

That stadium experience seemed to be a lot like SCAR whose band also rarely plays during the game.

I really am shocked that the SEC has not done anything about the cowbells this week. I fully expected Sankey to come out Monday morning and say that's it...no more cowbells. They were clearly ringing them when the center was over the ball on every play. There would be a brief pause right at the snap, but it was much to late for a qb to call an audible at the line. I can't believe Sankey hasn't put a stop to this nonsense.

It will be addressed by the SEC the next time Bama plays in Starkville
