What are you going to do about it to make sure it doesn’t happen again?
I agree and reviewed off the field. I'd like to know if the same ref that made the no call on the Brazzel catch where the guy all but pulled out a knife and stabbed him was the same one that called back that TD and had the ridiculous pi call on hood. If it is, his gambling accounts need to be checked.I think any pi call that negates a score should be reviewed before points are taken off the board. That wouldn’t be too many, games are long anyways and their clock adjustments have no shortened the game, just allowed more commercials!
the SEC ( and all conferences) grade the officials after each game. The problem is, I'm not sure there are any consequences, other than maybe not getting picked to do the SEC championship game.I'm not sure if it helps to call out refs after a game, however I am in favor of weekly grades for officials and appropriate corrective measures. If you miss a call like that and it disrupts momentum there should be something done by the league to ensure we are getting the best of the best calling our conferences games.
CJH was worried about our D being unable to stop them all game, why would the last minute be any different. If we go 3 and out and lose on a last second fg, how would you have felt? Aguilar has thrown several picks lately. He's missing high and that's on him. I'm gonna say huepel was a little worried about letting them have the ball back with time.
1. They are graded.Pressure from the fans need to be put on Sankey and the SEC office for better officiating and more transparency. As I have said many times the power 4 conferences need paid officials with training camps and to be graded weekly with the results made public. Sankey and the SEC fans cannot be allowed to continue to look away and pretend that there isn’t a problem and we don’t deserve better. It’s never going to be perfect but it can be a whole lot better than it is now. And no former player of a sec school should be allowed to referee against other rival schools. He may be a good guy but on a close play in tight situations there is no way that is not a conflict of interest. The rilvary never goes away in the best of us. It just isn’t a professional look at all. GBO
I heard another youtuber say that the line judge threw the flag. If so, how could the ref see well enough to throw the flag? He was 50 yards away.Maybe they discussed- unsure.
Idk how it works if refs are in disagreement. I’m assume the head ref makes the call?
But in this case, maybe the ref throwing the flag convinced the official near the play.
I have a friend who is moving up the ranks as an SEC ref. They are graded and they do hear about it. They do want more Champ games and more as those grades for crews put them in that position. He is an OM grad but is adamant that really is trained out of them as they move up. This is an also a second job for many like HS.1. They are graded.
2. Why should it be made public when the public in general has no idea about mechanics/clinics/rules interpretations etc? The public will hate anything and everything that's put out there if it doesn't align with what they want it to be.
3. There aren't a lot of people banging down the doors to become officials. Keeping them doing rivalry games (not only their alma maters) shrinks the pool even more. In basketball season, there's complaints about guys doing 3-4 games a week (due to availability) and now you want to limit it even more?
I know they are graded but it isn’t normally made public I don’t think. On the rest I maintain can be done. I guess you think we should just keep on with the regular way of doing things. Definitely more things need to be reviewed if we are going to let the same system stay in place. GBO1. They are graded.

Again, the public will hate all the results of publicly made grades no matter what. If the grade came out that the right guy made the call based on what he was said, do you really think this board would not explode more than it already has? People don't want it called "right", they want it called as they see it.I know they are graded but it isn’t normally made public I don’t think. On the rest I maintain can be done. I want it called right, I think that’s what most want. I guess lets just stand pat with the refs then. They are doing a great job. Excuse me for not having my blue font. I never blame refs for outcomes but I am not going to say we have quality officiating on any games right now because they have been bad in most all games. I do think that if they are going to keep on with their system which I have no doubt that we need more challenges to get plays right that the announcers and fans and everyone else can see is a bad call. The sec office is capable of intervening, like with the call in the Oklahoma game. A rule was broken, they should be able to call down and correct them. If we’re going to have instant replay let’s use it to eliminate the obvious. Between the sec office, replay officials and the ones on the field bad obvious calls could be eliminated or nearly eliminated. We’re always going to have close calls I can live with that and most folks in sports can. But when it’s a clear miss there needs to be a way to correct it and in this day and age there is no reason to not correct totally missed calls. In the first GA/TX game last year, didn’t they review an interception by Texas and determined that it was pass interference on Texas and reversed the play? That’s the only time I have ever seen that type of play reviewed, much less overturned.I think any pi call that negates a score should be reviewed before points are taken off the board. But you only think what's right is the way you see it. I've already provided a link that helps people become officials. You clearly have all the answers, but don't want to go through what it takes to make a difference. If you really can't live with it, get out from behind your keyboard and put yourself in a position to fix it the way you want it to be fixed.I want it called right, I think that’s what most want. I wouldn't mind on field review with audio like the ACC is doing. Would love to hear HQ ask the ref "what did you see here" and them have to explain it lolI agree and reviewed off the field. I don’t know what jibberish your talking about. I umpired baseball for years. I know how tough it is. I just want between replay and the office to get obvious mistakes corrected. I can live it, I am too old to start umpiring and being a ref again. You know nothing about me, so if all you can do is be a smart arse just ignore my post. Like I said with the technology they have the sec could have a better system. I have been watching games for over 50 years and I will continue watching I live with it fine. I said nothing toward you so don’t come at me when I just gave an opinion that replay should be totally overhauled in my opinion. This is just to help officials. I just want the best for the SEC, I can handle the outcomes. Good grief don’t be a classless jerk. How is making suggestions being a no it all. You sound like the know it all.
