Spot on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although further back from ten years, I'm still p.....off about the lead we had against florida with Manning as a Sophmore I think. We totally imploded the second half. Never have gotten over that one. I'm pretty sure we won out after that game.

Fulmer feasted on a weak SEC during the 90s. UF was his only competition during that time, and he routinely got his @$$ handed to him by the Gators. When the rest of the SEC upgraded their coaching staffs, well, you saw what happened.

I feel disrespected because some guy said my squirrel came from caddyshack. Everybody knows it was a gopher causing all of the mayhem.

Uhh we have sucked in the past three years. Yeah we went to the SEC Championship game, yadda yadda, but we have really honked. We deserve respect when we win. The end.

Out coached time and again. It happened in the 1990s too. We had some great wins under Phil don't get me wrong, but Tom Osborne and old man Joe Pa had Phil's number. Spurrier just wooped up on poor Phil. Satan, Cryer, Richt, and others all out coached us.

When we started losing to the likes of Maryland and other crap ola mediocre teams, I knew that Phil had lost his mojo

I don't think your program is being disrespected to the degree some of you think. It is still a program with a proud tradition- it's just had a couple of down years. Now Notre Dame? They are rightfully getting some disrespect.

i don't think we've lost it overnight. years of underachieving in the big games-01"seccg, entire 05 season, countless bowlgames, will do that to a program. i also think it has to do with the fact that we are the biggest/most hated rival for most of the schools on our schedule. we won't be here long, though, and you guys are right, we have to earn our way back. but we will. this is tennessee.

No more than any other time in '98 we win it all Undefeated National Champions! Not even the Mighty Gators can lay claim to that return a solid amount of the team and start the year off ranked #2 behind the team we beat!

Don't feel disrespected at all. I don't have the records in front of me but we haven't won a conference championship since 98 (I think). Everyone has a different opinion on what constitutes a good year but our record the last ten years agaist top 25 teams is horrible. No matter what the criteria our body of work is no better then average at best over the last ten years.

You are right on. We have everything to prove. Wehave been the whipping post of the SEC . Im fine with it because i believe a change is coming

10 years of near misses and mediocrity will do that to the image of a program.

This is a good starting point for the basis of the "disrespect" you feel. The former staff led by it's bumbling clapmaster has left this program in utter ruins with last year's record reflecting it. All the while the Tennessee fanbase in general, myself being guilty at times, still see the program as it once was and carry ourselves like that is the way it still is. Nothing could be further from the truth. A lot of our fans view things through orange colored glasses and not only tell themselves but also all around them that all is fine and write the struggles off to fluke. They cannot begin to see, much less accept, that the program has slipped to near death status. This is why our fanbase is targeted by everyone for everything from good natured ribbing to down right nasty taunting. They know that it will get a rise and usually an irrational one.

As I have said before, everyone better be in for the long haul back up the mountain. It will be bumpy and rough at times. Sometimes it will be outright miserable but it will be worth it for those willing to hang in there. In the meantime, let everyone talk and have their fun, it won't last forever.

They are "Americas" team.

And also its punching bad when they are down. Which has been for a while now. They are getting hammered now, because there is no good reason why they should not be winning. Ole Charlie has had his chance to get them goin, and he hasn't done it.

Not!

Biggest rivals?

UF = FSU, UGA and UM when we play them
Bama = Auburn
UGA = UF, G Tech
Kentucky = non rival, 24 straight.
Vandy = 1 bowl per lifetime. hahah.

They are hated rivals to be sure, but Tennessee is not the biggest rival of anybody meaningful.
