Does Heupel have questionable clock management at times? Yes.
Does Heupel's team ever quit? Hell.... No.....

He’s a great motivator imo. Stoic but nonetheless a guy who gets max effort out of his players.

I’m not sure he will ever be a good clock manager at this point. He’s been lacking for a while in that area and hasn’t gotten much - if any - better.

Nonetheless, Heup’s teams have found a way to win some ugly games. That’s a vast improvement over the last few imbeciles we’ve had masquerading as head coaches.

Love the never say die attitude that Heup’s teams embody and the offensive savvy his teams put on display. GBO

CJH has forgotten more football than I will ever know - I sure wish I could understand the logic of burning so much time on that final drive? GO VOLS! Caught several breaks in’98 too!
I will start by saying that it was absolutely a mistake with the way it happened. But as far as "why" it happens; I think CJH has so much confidence in how fast we can play and he mentioned that we had a 2nd play called already after the 1st down run. He can't lose that confidence. That is part of what makes him successful. But he has to recognize quickly when things aren't going to go as planned and use a T.O.

I think people forget that we beat Alabama in 2022 because of his unconventional clock management. IIRC we had 1 timeout left, and instead using it when most coaches would, he help onto it and let Hendon throw that last pass to set up the FG. And he had the TO for that attempt. But I could be misremembering that sequence.

Anyone saying "we shouldn't have won that game" is ignoring the screw job the refs attempted to give us. No way in hell was that OPI on CB's TD.

You’re right. Bad call there and Hood got called for a BS PI as well. With that being said…here’s the reality of it imo: when you’re playing on the road in the SEC in a close game, you’re gonna get screwed at least once. It sucks. It isn’t fair, but it is what it is.

The really good teams still find a way to win which is exactly what we did despite the many issues that reared their ugly heads. That’s a great sign for us. Great job, Vols.

Brazzell made a hell of a catch. Pass was a little behind him. Strong hands.

Brazzell had his issues last season with confidence and consistency. So far this season, though, he’s been a straight up boss. Not at all crazy to think that he could be the first receiver or two off the board in the NFL draft if he keeps performing at this level. NFL scouts will be counting that BS offensive PI as a touchdown. He’s a stud.

Gonna enjoy being 4-1 and on a bye week. We desperately need a week off! I hope Coach Banks uses it to take a good look in the mirror and see that he needs to get back to calling an aggressive pressuring defense all the time. Let’s get healthy on the bye week and get our dudes back, including Hobbs and McCoy. Hopefully McCoy is healthy and can make a major difference for us. Hopefully we’ll go to more man coverage and play more aggressive defense.

One other thing… Can we please practice taking better angles and form tackling during the week?!
