Why didn’t we RUN the damn football!

Btw, Payton Lewis made some huge pass blocks today
He also missed one on the sack…I don’t remember us throwing to him but we need a RB that can be a recei threat out of the backfield - we lined up Staley in backfield and threw to him and he dropped it!

He also whiffed on the biggest one. I think Bishop starts because he’s the most trusted in pass pro. Thomas is the better runner and receiver, but Bishop doesn’t whiff in pass pro. That’s important.
I agree, I actually think Bishop is the most complete of the bunch but Star has certainly been impressive in past games. Good problem to have.

Yeah I actually wish Joey would've thrown a few more swing passes today.

I felt like we could’ve ran the 🏈 a bit more on first down. The 3rd and 2 at midfield when we threw the screen to Thomas, that should’ve been a run imo.

And then after the 2 minute I would’ve liked to see a run on first down after we hit that 4th and 2.

Nevertheless, proud of the team of closing it out with 2 TD runs on our last 2 scoring drives.

Thomas was not very good today. BISHOP WAS. I'm good with the committee moving forward but yeah, run the ball guys.
Lewis and Bishop are probably the best of the bunch. But as to effort? I can't fault Thomas there.

MS played the run all day and it worked pretty well until they had us in spots where we usually run the ball and we threw passes. The run on first down in overtime was a beautiful call and very well executed. Then the defense did its job. Good won the road in the SEC. I don’t think we had any serious injuries and was nice to see Sanders get his feet wet. Had the one false start but otherwise played well.
Looking at the OT period? It seems to me we were stronger for that. MSU played all out for four quarters, but when it came time to put in overtime? Their fuel tank was just about dry.

They were selling out to stop the run. They were running 3-3-5 but disguising the coverage and bringing two of the backers up at the snap. They wanted to force Joey to beat them and luckily he did. In overtime they did the same thing but their defense was gassed and Bishop did a perfect cut to not be wrapped up.

Hell, their whole team did. MSU's fans have nothing to be ashamed of.
MSU's game against UT today was a lot like UT's game against Georgia two weeks ago. It might have been a loss, but it was also a statement. MSU has joined the chat in the SEC, just like Tennessee joined the chat in the Natty chat against Georgia.

I'll admit I didn't notice. I do remember Lewis whiffing on a block that caused a sack and we were fortunate that Aguilar didn't fumble. But if Lewis otherwise did a good job that's good to hear.
