Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

If I am Auburn's AD this is not happening. Auburn is a top 5 SEC basketball program at this time.
I would let ANY of the other assistants run it for a year before I would be strong armed into giving it to diddie’s boy. Even the equipment manager.

Did Bruce have it in his contract that his baby boy took over when he retired?

You know things are going bad when coaches start quoting scripture
Pretty sure the “trials” were people getting persecuted (flogged, stoned, etc.) for their faith - not losing at a “game”. Anywho, not trying to turn that into a political/religious discussion so carry on…

Yes you will, Braves fans...
I rarely if ever watch MLB. First its a chore to find a game, second its hard to watch bc of length of games. 162 games waters it down.

MLB baseball makes it a retired upper middle sport. My children are small. Son is very athletic (got it from his Mom), and has difficulty with the pace.

My wife's good friend owns an MMA studio, so...I may put him in that. My son is built like his uncle, who won a state wrestling championship. 🥴

Had be gotten my build he couldve looked forward to years of being a touch too slow, having a 20" vertical, and keeping the pine
warm.

You may think me FOS.

Called my HS coach, to pull this tape from Sr year. They called me blue, never could figure it out.

What’s your backing stats
Not every QB hits
Hell there’s only 32 guys on the planet good enough to start at that position in the NFL
Outside of the top 10 guys in the league the rest of them suck also honestly
There is only so many that make the HOF
Are all the coaches that won super bowls and QB wasn’t a stud bad at evaluating QBs
Are saban and Kirby bad coaches bc none of their QBs outside of a couple play nfl ball
What coach is good at truly evaluating QBs

CJH is a helluva developer at the position

I didn't think my comment was a contentious statement. Probably making too many assumptions about Joey Football after 4 games but Aguilar and Hooker have been by far Heupel's best 2 QBs. Heup went out and got Milton, who in hindsight was a better QB than he got credit for, but he was also not great, especially that first year. Heup also went out and got Nico, who looks like mega ass and did last year despite this board carrying water for him until he left. So Heupel's best 2 QBs have been a guy he inherited from Pruitt that he sat on the bench in favor of Milton, and now Aguilar. We would not have Aguilar if CJH's prized recruit did not leave us high and dry and from my understanding there were like 2-3 realistic options in the portal with the timing of Nico's departure. He certainly gets some credit for Aguilar but we'd be stuck with Nico had Nico not done us the ultimate favor and I'm fairly certain we still would not have scored in the 20s against Georgia had Nico not left and this board would still be making excuses for him.

Edit: And no, I'm not kidding when I say I didn't think this was contentious. It's perfectly okay to point out areas where Heupel could improve despite him being an excellent overall coach.

In case anyone still doubted it, the LVs are back.

I read in the LV forum the other day, shes actually been back with the team since entering her plea agreement. They just waited until they had to announce it.

I mean
Hooker played his best under CJH
Milton got drafted bc of CJH
Nico was still young and if you haven’t noticed most good QBs get better with age and I believe CJH would have fixed him
Joey is having his best year under the tutelage of CJH

Looks like he can develop guys to me

No to mention those previously mentioned guys played for teams with below talent at Oline and WR as you can see by their current situations outside of Tillman

Heupel has forgotten more about evaluating/coaching QBs than most of us could ever learn.

Look at his track record, besides the last 2, he's hit on pretty much every QB that has played for him

I think the answer is that it is relatively easy to evaluate tangible QB skills and attributes, but it's far harder to evaluate the intangible things that make a QB great in Heupel's system. I don't believe it's due to any inherent weakness on his part, but rather that you can't really know how a guy is gonna perform in your system until you get him in a game running that system. The light obviously turns on for some and for others the bulb stays pretty dim. So no, I don't think he's bad at it, I think it's really hard. The NFL is still drafting guys on perceived potential and they have a very low percentage of success.

I also think that by getting a guy with elite physical attributes you increase the probability of him being serviceable, however, it doesn't take elite physical attributes to be successful in Heupel's system.

Sound points. I've basically said the same. Going forward with QBs on the team now and coming, the future looks bright however. And, it would appear our incomming 5 start QB is the real deal (unlike Nico).
