And they signed Steven to a 5 year contract as HC...goodness
Devil is in the details there. I haven't seen any buyout info, but if it is relatively cheap they'll move on from him quickly if there's any drop off. I wouldn't expect him to have a long leash at all given it is such an obvious nepo hire.

Knowing the right people certainly helps you get the opportunity, but that alone won't keep you in the room.

I don’t think if they transfer they’re eligible this season, they can go to another school and redshirt but they’d have to sit out this year…I doubt any of them want to do that.
If it's dependent on enrollment in the new school, could they theoretically be eligible in January when the next semester starts?

I imagine this is a win-win for Auburn. I can't see them honoring any kind of contract even remotely close to Bruce's, so the buyout will be on the cheap side.

He'll fit right in with the Senate.

Yes - BBQs, Co-eds, and other nefarious things are never frowned upon in the halls of the Senate...HAHAHA

With all due respect to Barnes, I’d rather have DW make the hire. Barnes would likely want to hire a former assistant.

AGREE - and can't be stated enough !!!
I think part of the 'contract for life' deal struck with DW and Barnes has to say something like "You can help guide the search for your replacement, but UTAD will not be strong armed into hiring YOUR guy."...honestly, only assistants I can think of that I might want would be Kim English (although he hasn't seemed to do much at George Mason), Rob Lanier (not sure what it would take to get him from SMU), and current AHC Justin Gainey.
But let's wait a couple of more years because the SEC just got a whole lot easier with Bruce stepping out...

Kinda a dick move by Bruce if so. It’s one thing to force the university to promote your son. It’s another to screw over your players like that…

Ok? The deadline to enter the portal for immediate eligibility was April 22.

You're right. Unless something has changed since Bennett's retirement last fall, and barring any court challenges, undergraduates would be ineligible this season.
