Jimmie Kimmel Show gone !

There would be no need for the word "escalated" if the decision by ABC was already finalized.
I have never suggested Disney's decision was finalized. I am typing as clearly as possible. You either aren't comprehending or I am unclear.

I agree. The concerns of the executives were enhanced after Carr's statements. All of that syncs with your timeline.
The ABC execs were also getting pressure from affiliates who had already decided to pre-empt JK's show before Carr made statements.
I will say this one more time ....

There really would be nothing to see here without FCC Chairman Brendan Carr's threats. Will he lose his job over this? Of course not.

Okay ... then we aren't as far apart on this as I thought.

Carr's threats weren't the whole reason for ABC's decision but they were one factor. Fair?

You may be right on both accounts.

Others on here have discussed when statements coming from a government official are official policy and when they are just words.

Also, in my opinion, not unreasonable to be warry of JK's poorly worded monologue's ith respect to inciting retalitory violence. I'm not convinced I agree, but I understand the rationale.

I have talked about that too. It was clumsy and it leant itself to misinterpretation. He should swallow his pride and clarify what he was saying. Kimmel has a big ego. No doubt about it.

You have. You are the one who brought better understanding of what he actually said and how poorly worded it was.

Whenever Trump is responding to criticism .... he will always refer to the person who is being critical of him as some combination of the following:

1) Overrated
2) Lowly-rated
3) Ratings-challenged
4) Failing
5) Failed
6) Terrible
7) Horrible
8) Pathetic
9) Disgusting

Whenever Trump is describing something he has done, or something that one of his sycophants has done .... he will always refer to it as some combination of the following:

1) Beautiful
2) Big
3) Perfect
4) Brilliant

Trump is so repetitive and boring. He seems particularly obsessed with always discussing the Neilsen ratings. It wouldn't be so annoying if his minions didn't have to follow his lead on everything. All we hear about anymore are "ratings." It's bizarre. I'm sure the people at Neilsen love it though.

Populist Presidents are inherently stupid and appeal to the lesser educated lowest common denominators that support them.

Trump's 2nd grade vocabulary and limited diction is like music to the ears of the MAGA cultists. Sadly, they're largely too dumb to even understand how Donald works against them and our Republic.

The good news is we really only have 1.5 years left til Congress will be retaken by Dems... Effectively neutering Donnie. Then again I wonder if he'll even make it that long.

Trump and his supporters seem to be suggesting that Carr's ultimatum to ABC was justified, because Jimmy Kimmel's show (supposedly) doesn't perform well in the Neilsen ratings. That is ridiculous. "Ratings" don't belong anywhere in this discussion. There is no justification for Brendan Carr's threats against ABC.

You will lose seats in both chambers.
That is either wishful-thinking to an extreme or just plain delusional ..... LOL.

I will remind you that Republicans have underperformed in each of the last 2 mid-term elections. In the 2018 mid-term elections, with Trump as President and a strong economy at his back? Democrats gained 40 seats in the House of Representatives. There is no way that Republicans will hold onto the House, especially if Trump's assault on the 1st Amendment continues. Democrats only need to flip 5 seats this time.

You are seeing this one, only with your heart.

That Trump is so thin skinned and clearly can't take the slings and arrows of comedians is hilarious in and of itself.

"Leader of the Free World". 😆

I wouldn't trust that tub o lard to watch my dog.

It is embarrassing that the President of the United States allows himself to get involved in back-and-forth, public name-calling taunts with entertainment industry celebrities.

Can you imagine any other President doing that? It should be beneath him, but Trump is like a child. No level of pettiness or immaturity is beneath him.

Trump is literally bringing a UFC cage match to the White House. You can't make this s*** up.

The movie Idiocracy comes to mind...

"A lot of people are saying ...."

😂

That's another one of Trump's quirks. Whenever Trump wants to say something that he knows he can't prove, he will always begin the sentence with that phrase. It is a way to make a declaration without having to specifically identify the people who have expressed such beliefs.
