Someone has started the rumor that Penn State is supposed to be getting $30 million per year. Even as an adidas cautionary, I can’t see how that makes sense.
I'm still skeptical. What happens when other schools who are with Adidas are up for contract renewal? Is Adidas going to be promising similar things to A&M, Washington, Miami, etc?
From my perspective I don't care if we are the sole "flagship" because I believe the Adidas college sports brand would be stronger and thus better for Tennessee if there is at least one more top shelf B1G/SEC football brands standing alongside us. Penn State is a great add in that direction and only strengthens our decision to switch. I get the appeal of Miami (football brand) and A&M (big market) but even if they renew with better deals thats not the type of brand I'd like to add along Tennessee and Penn State.
We'll see. I'm very skeptical of that promise. When we signed with Nike 10 years ago I seem to remember reading similar things from them. That they wanted to make us the "Oregon" of the SEC. Psst! Whatever!
You would think that AI would be smart enough to not put a logo that Tennessee hasn’t used in more than a decade on the heel of the clearly fake shoes.
