Injury Updates

We have to pressure the QBs on the next three SEC games. If we don’t these games could be a problem. Might just be shootouts like Saturday
I know folks are mostly concerned about the cornerbacks coming back because of the number of passing yards we just gave up. But I think the two defensive lineman are more important.

Moi and Hobbs not only help clog up the middle, but those are 2 of our 3 best DTs. Their availability means Bryson, Bailey, and others play fewer snaps and are better rested at the end of games. All of that leads to better DLine play. Further, it makes us better able to stop the run without selling out, which means we’re better against the pass (including rushing the passer).

The CBs on the other hand, will get better. Hood already looks good. Redmond will be a different player in mid-October than he was Saturday, simply due to the increased trajectory of a true freshman. We know he has talent and upside.

For these reasons, I think it’s imperative we get the 2 DTs back sooner and then STAY healthy at DT. Obviously, if we can then get McCoy back at full speed by Alabama, that’s ideal.

Getting Moi and Hobbs back for Ms State game would be huge. There were some runs up the middle in the UGA game that probably don’t happen if we are able to rotate those guys.

Tried to find an existing thread before posting this.

Do we actually know anything about the return timeframe for these guys? I will cite the rumors I’ve seen floating around, but none of them come from a legitimate source.

Rickey Gibson - most out there believe he will not play this season

Jermod McCoy - some are saying he’s unlikely to play this year, while others have said we are tying to get him back for MissSt

David Sanders - some are saying he will get some snaps against UAB and slowly ramp up his workload

Jaxson Moi - people are saying he’s day-to-day and could possibly play some against UAB

Daevin Hobbs - people are saying he’s day-to-day and could possibly play some against UAB

Radarius Jackson - AP says he will miss about a month with a collarbone

Mike Matthews - banged up and missed a series against UGA. Looks like he will be fine
Guess we should have let Gibson fly when he wanted more money. Hope he gets better but looks like he won’t play for us.

I doubt Moi plays against UAB, even if he's healthy. Maybe for a few plays just to test it out i guess. I don't see any chance that Hobbs plays this week. If Sanders is cleared, I'd love to see him get some decent snaps in this one to get some experience. I doubt McCoy is back for Mississippi state, but I think he could be back for Arkansas after the open date.

If Gibson comes back, seems like it would be at the end of the year. Probably not going to happen.

And he could be healthy, not return, and drop a bit in draft. That’s why his “people” are evaluating the different scenarios.
Yep, if he don't play this year there will be a number and it may be all of them per their needs that will not pay a sitter. That just has 1 year of P4 football 1st round money, coming off a injury that may be lingering. I think someone with DB heavy needs will get him in the 2nd round if he sits out the whole year. He could come back and be a 1st rounder or comeback and show a lot of flaws and drop far, their injuries follow players differently there's no blueprint different bodies different outcomes. So no play makes a franchise take a chance with the organizations money.

I'd be shocked if he's here next season. Seems like he's been flirting with the idea of the portal since he's been here.
That will be a reoccurring theme for many players that isn't only specific to Gibson. It is my understanding that he was given a nice stack of NIL money though.

Apparently everybody must be available this week. For some reason there is no availability report from UT for this Saturday on the SEC website. Only AUvs OU and Mizzo vs USCe.

Wednesday injury report is only required for games within the conference, not OOC games.

@LWSVOL latest from AP (***):

Gibson - Has had surgery for torn pec and is out for the year. ***Said he could be back late in the season depending on how he heals and if we're in the CFP mix***
McCoy - The hope is Alabama but he does have some of his adviors pushing to just prepare for draft and not play. decision still TBD ***Said if we're playing for something when he's medically ready he'll play***
Sanders - Not cleared by medical. Return unknown. he is week to week as when the nerve is healed he still needs to do some strength building.
Moi-return unknown. His issue has been kept real quite. Not expected back this week possibly MSU. Very difficult to get info on him ***Expected back for MSU, I inferred he could play this week but no reason to risk it***
Hobbs-Mississippi State is best guess. Don't think they risk a setback with him this week. ***Said MSU is possible, I get the sense he'll be ready***
Jackson-Out at least a month with shoulder problem. Not clear how serious yet. ***Pretty sure it was his clavicle. My guess is OFY***

AP is real good with info. As long as info is accurate from complex. Which is always a question. Including anything I say or hear.

Would the staff give Moi some reps against UAB to knock off the rust? Or put him on the shelf and make a game time decision before the MS State game?

According to Heupel, Sanders has a "UNIQUE" situation. Said it was up to him and how he felt basically. Wondering if it's something similar to Trey Smith?

Even if they felt he could play versus UAB, I suspect they hold him until MSU.. He has been able to condition.. just not go through much, if anything, on the practice field. The risk is probably greater than the reward to play him this week.

Agreed having constant pressure on the QB can makes a difference in a good DB and a great DB.

My biggest concern right now is an injury to either Hood or Redmond then we are in a bad situation.
