Same for me. The drive, the hotel, tickets for everybody, gas and food… it’s a grand to get up to a game against an FCS team anymore. I’d love to go more but simply can’t afford toHe’s priced out hardcore fans. I live in Atlanta, if I want to come up for a game, stay a night, after tickets hotel food gas etc i could have taken a trip to Europe for a week for the same price. It’s disgraceful.
Completely agree. I'm in S, used to take 20 seconds to get to my seat after entering what is now a "non premium ticket holder gate" (that no one uses anymore!), up a half flight of stairs, across the concourse and into seats on row 30. Now I get to go in with the masses. And I'm also in G17 which is the worst garage on campus. 2 1/2 hours and didn't move. Finally exited the garage after 10:30pm and they route you across campus to Neyland drive instead of letting you use Cumberland or 17th. Ridiculous to take 4 hours to get back to West Knoxville! The University has destroyed getting into the stadium. The only stadium in the country I've been to with this problem and I've been to multiple college and pro stadiums. It is an embarrassment. We sit in section V on the West side. For decades we went through the gates on the West side mainly gate 17. Walked up 1 half flight of stairs and right to our seats. The last couple of seasons we are forced into the **** show at gate 21.
Whoever has come up with this and traffic control needs to be fired immediately and replaced.
I see Danny White is taking the blame but there has to be other people responsible for this. I do not trust what we are being told. Seeing is believing here on this topic. They always tell us they are going to fix things and it doesn't happen or takes forever. I'll believe it when I see it, but it truly is inexcusable.
Many garages are a total **** show too. Namely G17 and the one beside it. Lake avenue DOES NOT MOVE and people are literally trapped in these garages for up to hours without moving. Not only embarrassing and inexcusable, but it is a urgent public safety issue.
Someone had a medical emergency outside of gate 21 about 30 minutes before kickoff and personnel was scrambling to even get to the person. Not sure how they even got the person out. Just a total disaster.
Same experience here Last week vs what I heard this week. That is our gate. Last week we were at the Alumni tailgate, and when we got there just we walked right in. Yesterday was a complete SS and we were lucky there wasn't a mass brawl. There were what seemed like thousands of people pushing and shoving and people screaming at each other all over the place. We were lucky to get in by the Pregame show, but the were BUNCHES of people still outside fighting for position to get in. That is the worst I have ever seen in all my decades of being a Vol fan.
They didn't hear Game Day was coming? Somebody get them a youtube.tv account. It was bizarre how few busses they had working. It’s they were totally unprepared for a crowd.
I live in ATL (close enough). I don't stay in Knoxville. If it's a night game, I drive about an hour, hour and a half back and get a room. He’s priced out hardcore fans. It wouldn’t have been an issue for the ETSU game because it was a much lighter crowd that exited at halftime and throughout the 2nd half. For GA, virtually all 102k stayed the entire game and attempted to exit at the same time.I didn't go to the ETSU game so I don't know if it was the same last week. Last year though, they had more running for sure.
They also changed the parking to $25 and no need to buy the shuttle pass.
FL and Bama weren't that bad last year. Both big crowds, both times everyone stayed. It wouldn’t have been an issue for the ETSU game because it was a much lighter crowd that exited at halftime and throughout the 2nd half. I agree but they were much worse than the ETSU game. The ingress and egress for GA game were likely worst ever due to premium gates, less general admission gates, gates and barriers creating bottlenecks, and poorly trained staff and poorly working scanners.FL and Bama weren't that bad last year. Folks can't tell which is the premium gate till they've waited and clogged the wrong line.I agree but they were much worse than the ETSU game. Game Day being there, and added security, had a lot to do with it I'm sure.I agree but they were much worse than the ETSU game. We have actually walked downtown after games, eaten dinner, caught a bike taxi or Uber back to G17, and gotten home about the same time as sitting in traffic. It's unreal. That is the Knoxville Police Departmemt. They have responsibility for the traffic plan and execution. Whoever designed changes they made about 3 years ago destroyed post game traffic flow.
VolNation, I owe so many of you an apology. The experience getting into Neyland yesterday was not acceptable. The expanded south concourse and gate 9 / Truly Plaza are intended to make ingress much better, and they will, but our plan was obviously not effective. It wasn’t for lack of effort, our staff and campus partners have been working hard on this all offseason. It is proven to be difficult to predict traffic flow with new gates given our tight footprint. That’s not an excuse, we missed the mark. That’s on me. I want you all to know that we are immediately looking at adjustments to our plan. Just as importantly, we will communicate with y’all this week about your best path into the stadium depending on your seat location. Thank you to those that have made me aware of the situation on this platform. I did see it myself at Gate 20. It gutted me to see our loyal fans so frustrated. I’m very sorry. We will fix it.
