Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Virginia Tech has fired Brent Pry as well. Wished it could have worked out for them. Have a small soft spot for them. Hope they get it right with the next coach.

After a night sleeping on it.

That game showed me that this team is better than what many were predicting them to be at 7-5 or 8-4.

Now we are very thin & inexperienced on defense, that also got exposed a bit. But against the deepest team with the most talent. Gonna need to get healthier & keep seeing these younger players improve, but I don’t think there is a game left on the schedule that isn’t winnable.
I agree with you, but if things don’t fall right for us in a few games 8-4 might still happen.

If you have Moi and Hobbs there are no depth concerns.

If any team in the country loses two of its top 3 players at any position group there is going to be depth problems.
Just making excuses. Backups with little experience and true freshman should perform like season vets if they had the coaching. 😎

Do
We not have a player thread for Elijah Hutcheson?

“It’s crazy,” Hutcheson said. “This is without a doubt the loudest game I’ve been to. Their fans are truly devoted and the coaches I’ve got really good relationships with just about all the o-line coaches and assistants.”

I don't think Nico can afford to redshirt, he will have then quit on two teams in the same year.

If he transfers out I would expect it to be a second level conference. Or a team with a qb guru that can put something together for him next season. His window is closing, no way he can go into the draft after this year.

He really sabotaged himself.

One question I had in real time was not going for 2 up 34-30. I told my son at the time. It was into the 4th quarter, and being up 6 protects you from two FG’s. But, if you don’t get it and kick a FG like we did, UGA still ties it at 37-37. If we had gotten the 2, we would have been up 39-30. I would like to see what the chart says.
That is really interesting. Based on expected number of remaing possessions that could definitely be a good decision. I am also curious.

Ya'll know I don't post during games or right after.................

So, I was pissed off about the Choke of the Century yesterday.
Thinking about it.............They went punch for punch with one of the best teams in the country. EXACTY like they did vs Bama in '22. This time dude missed the kick.

Vols can score with anyone in the country.....The defense just needs a couple of "diva" CBs to get off their a$$ and play.

Keep teams under 30 and the Vols have a great "punchers chance" run the table.

They wanted middle of the field and to end the game on the kick, so that’s why Joey ran on 3rd down on the false start. I also wonder if they were afraid of another penalty to move it back again.
I think another penalty going back 5 more yards was his biggest reasoning. A timeout to give the kicker a minute to compose himself might have been good. Or that might have iced his own kicker.
