Usually... under 10 secs with a FG attempt to win the game on 3rd down from point blank range you do that

So that if someone jumps or there's another minor penalty you have another chance

They ran a play, got a penalty, got in the K's head, and it cost 'em the game

And he might very well cost us more games that come down to crunch time. You want him lining up for a game winning FG in Tuscaloosa or Gainesville.

Dang I thot Phil wuz on the sideline calling plays at the end of the game..........
Plenty of freaking time, run the plays and go score.......the BS of attempting to pick up a yard and run the clock down is what cost them the game.......................Same O Same O

Maybe we should of gotten down to the 10 yard line and somehow gotten the entire GA defense out of there so Max would be more comfortable. Can't expect him to make a kick w everything riding on it to make a 42 yard field goal to win the game. It's too much pressure on the poor kid.

But his job is to kick??? If I don’t do my job I get blamed. Don’t you? When I was his age, I was in the army. If I screwed up, I got blamed. Also, if I were a kicker, I’d hope every game came down to a last second field goal. Winners want the game on their shoulders.

My brother who doesn't watch a lot of college ball, he's more of a NFL guy but guess he decided to watch because he sent me a text after that series and said they played that series for a FG, very risky move Cotton.

Can't coach scared like that when playing the better teams like GA. Put it behind you and go get the win. You got a talented QB and Braz was having a good game, go for the win
You expect your QB to shake off a INT or taking a sack, coaching staff needs to shake off a bad play and not go turtle mode and go into a shell

Lmao at the people crapping on Hype . His offense scored 41 points on perhaps the best defensive coach in FBS. On a defense that puts 6 or 7 guys in the NFL EVERY year. 21 points 1st qtr...most EVER against a Smart defense...and 41 for the game.

Banks got schooled today by Bobo. He was missing BOTH starting corners and BOTH starting DTackles....but he got schooled by Bobo today. He took WAY too long to switch to a 4-3 defense and add a 3rd LB so we could stop the run vs UGAs "jumbo" package. Thats why they ran the ball 13 times in 14 plays on their drive after halftime. We were still in base 3-4 Nickel defense playing only 7 men in the box against UGAs Jumbo package. Total azzwhipping on Banks there.

And YES it is ON THE KICKER. That was a routine 42yd FG. He has 1 job...which he gets PAID VERY WELL FOR. He choked away a win that would have had us in the drivers seat for the SECG and almost guaranteed a playoff spot. He choked his lungs out. Choked like a bitch. I promise you that the other players all KNOW he choked his butt off and lost us the game.

Banks had a VERY bad game calling plays and formations. Wait til the film guy grinds this tape. I played ball thru HS and know that Banks failed miserably adjusting to what Bobo was doing on offense. Only having 7 men in the box when UGA has their jumbo package in there is inexcusable. No excuse. Any defensive coach knows we arent stopping 8 BLOCKERS AND A RB with only 7 men in the box. Its a simple numbers game at that point. No excuse. Bobo drove all the way down the field with 13 running plays and we were still in Nickel defense with 7 men in the box. So stupid. I love Banks. He is a very good coach. He had a very bad today again vs UGA.

Heupel should have kicked it the play before from 38 yards out. No reasonable explanation for not kicking it on 3rd down with 7 seconds to go. Why send your offense back out where multiple things can go wrong? A fumbled snap and fumbled hand-off and penalty. Welp a penalty happened then he was kicking from 43 yards out. There are many plays that could have gone the other way and the Vols would've won. But this decision was squarely on Heupel.
