'25 Recruiting forum: Official Georgia vs Tennessee Pre-game/Game Thread

We have the best fans, until we lose. It doesn't matter that we haven't beat GA in 8 years or that if Gilbert hit a field goal he normally makes, we win. It doesn't matter that we were suppose to be horrible this year and that we did this with an Appy State quarterback and some of our best players hurt.
Old Ulysees saying that everybody here knows by now..

We are the best fanbase in sports...
We are the worst fanbase in sports...

Both statements are 100% truth.

Some of yall just need to admit that you don't like Heupel. Just say it out loud. You don't like that he's not from the south, or that he doesn't run a pro style offense, or you don't like that he is awkward in front of the camera and would rather have a mouthy head coach like Kiffin. Whatever it is, some of y'all just need to admit that you just don't like him and you use every single minor issue or mistake he makes as a reason to trash him and his team.

This team was picked to finish 7th-11th in the SEC this year and dealt with a ton of fallout this offseason. We had NO BUSINESS winning this game with the amount of inexperience on the field, but we almost did because of great coaching. Growing pains happen. Live with it and get ready for next week. Long season ahead.
Some of us like him plenty well enough to see that he’s a one of the best coaches UT has had,
But we are not blinded by his ass cheeks from kissing his ass to miss some definite mistakes that he has made during games and we didn’t miss them today or are we in denial that he can be less than perfect.

Enough blame to go around every where including his mistakes that contributed to us blowing a game we could of won.

Nailed it...you can tell they are scared of losing him...they know he is good enough to get us to the playoffs.

I knew Heupel was all in on Joey the very first drive against Syracuse...I thought that if the talking heads were right and Joey wasn't all that in practice, that we would have come out running right off the bat, but nope je cones out ripping it across the middle right away...and I knew.

The downside is that they will not expose him to injury and Kirby figured that out...you're 100% right...there were acres of green grass to run to and we HAVE take it in critical games like this
A good teaching moment to instill an understanding of the necessity of establishing a greater margin for error in games moving forward.

We’re going to skullf*ck Alabama I know that.
I don't know...I think FSU just woke them up and pissed them off...and they STILL have a roster just or more loaded than Georgias....and it is in Crappabama..

If we win it will surprise me.

I think UF is the big road game we HAVE to win, and we can't lose any more home games.

The SEC is loaded, it is a minefield...therefore no easy wins..especially with our injury problems, most prominently the CB situation, it won't get better until McCoy comes back and I'm starting to doubt he ever shows up.

We don't have a clue how this team will play on the road...there is a lot of valid reasons to doubt making the playoffs.

One thing is for sure...we can beat anybody.
Another sure thing...we HAVE TO PLAY BETTER DEFENSE or this season will end up being a major disappointment. I am not really blaming the defensive coaches, we are extremely short handed and that is not their fault...but that is still the truth.

If we don't start playing better defense this season is going no where.

Hi, Heupel Homer here 🙋‍♂️

That said, I can be all in on Heupel and also call out when Heupel makes big-game mistakes. Today’s loss wasn’t all on him. Injuries got us like I was afraid they would and Banks probably called one of the most head scratching games since he’s been here. But Heupel does still deserve to shoulder a lot of blame as well, especially in the 4th quarter. His conservative play calling after the fumble killed our momentum. And then his decision to try and center the ball made sense, but why you don’t call a TO after the screw up to just chat with your kicker is beyond me. Or at the very least try to gain some of that yardage back with a run up the gut.

Anyways, Heupel’s still a Hell of a coach and anyone toying with the idea of watching him walk is a moron.

You strive for perfection knowing that no one is perfect. More good than bad. We aren’t in the game without the master class of offensive play calls in the 1st and 4th quarters. It’s clear that he trusts JA to run an offense like 2022 again.

The way Heupel reacted after 3rd down, I’m not sure that was the call. Maybe an RPO that JA made the wrong read or maybe an audible. JA is awesome, but just because we run a play doesn’t mean thats the play the staff wanted to run.

Yup. And Joey is a pretty good runner. Utilize it

Are you talking about the 3rd down at the end? Because I don’t necessarily think the call to run it or possibly even go for it with 7 seconds to go was the bad move. But it was the follow up I disagree with. You still have the TO, use it.

Rewatching OT.

If Matthews catches that 1st down throw in OT, he might have scored. It hit him on the hands.

2nd down was a 1 yard run

3rd down, Kurby sent the blitz and Joey had to get rid of it.

*That drop on 1st down hurt bad

Georgia #63 held #90 so bad, he raised his hands up when he finally let him loose. 90 had the RB in the backfield.
We will always have to beat the 💩ty SECorrupt refs as well as the team we are playing. This crap almost never goes our way

My son who is a huge UGA fan texted me right after the game..."Tennessee was robbed"

My boy may be a Dog but he is honest...he said winning a game with corrupt or garbage refs making horrid calls, or horribly missing obvious call they should make for your team and not the other always makes him feel dirty.

2nd and 3rd down after the fumble. They showed Heupel, and he was pissed like that’s not what they wanted.

Ethan Davis has been a huge disappointment. He's been on campus for 3 years, and has a grand total of 16 catches. His ONE CATCH this season went for a wopping 1 yard. I don't want to run the kid into the ground, but...time for the young guys.

With that said, however...I don't understand why the TEs don't feature more prominently in our offense, though.

Also...if Peyton Lewis runs a 4.3, I run a 4 flat. I've said, I would love for Morris to get his touches, and I ABSOLUTELY stick by that...along with wanting Star Thomas to be our featured back going forward. I love DeSean Bishop, and I want him to still be a part of our O; however, Thomas can win us games. Should've been WAY MORE involved today.

What else? I'd rather see the water boy than Andre Turrentine. LB play HAS TO get better, as well...I like Telander, but he's slow as Christmas; Carter looked awful at times, too. Redmond got baptized today. He played as hard as he could, but he struggled all day....although, he got pushed off on that TD. Of course, bullsh!t no call; however, Stockton can throw the ball into the damn stands, and they call Turrentine for PI. What a bunch of bullsh!t.

This was a tough one. With all of that said about the players, still believe this one hangs around Heupel and coaches.
🦬💩

I’ll tell you one thing we are missing Dylan Sampson out there. My one issue rn: I am souring on the RB committee and think, at this point, it’s time to designate one main back, only getting spells as needed. My vote is star
You are 100% correct.
At least in the 4 th and when we really need the best in the game.
