The Official #15 Tennessee vs. #6 Georgia Game Thread, 3:30 ET, ABC

I’m thinking that due to Tennessee’s decade of dysfunction, many fans accept Tennessee being a pretty good, but not a great team and coming close to beating GA and/or other top tier teams - being pretty good but not great at recruiting - certainly better than the decade of dysfunction but not great.

malpractice.
I agree with this assessment. Your team disappeared in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but still had a chance to win the game. You can't beat a better team, and Georgia is a better team, playing it safe. I don't think this GA team is as good as most in the past and we had a chance to make them pay. We didn't. In fairness, to be in the game late with a QB like Joey is somewhat impressive on its face. I keep wondering what COULD happen if this team had a world-class QB and good health. Perhaps it comes next season, but this season still has potential that needs to be explored. I'll stick around as I have for 60 some-odd years.

Wasn’t trying to be combative and I actually couldn’t agree more. Being in the game at the end with the chance to win is all you can ask for in those games. Go Vols
Understood. Sorry if I came across in a way that made you think I was trying to be combative. It wasn’t my intention either.

Year 5....no excuses. It's Heupel's team from top to bottom. Ever a year to end the streak it was this year at home against a first time average QB. Heupel went in a Butch Jones shell...Smart didn't and he won.
Yeah, year 5 with a TN team that had hit perhaps an all-time low, sanctions, now consists of 54 freshmen and built for the future, with the 4th QB in four years and a journeyman at that. Against a team few have beat, has multiple NCs, and is on another talent level.

He did exactly what any coach with a brain should have on the last possession, put your team in a position to execute for a win. One guy committed a penalty and another missed on a game-winner well within his range.

A lot of fans don't deserve this coach.

Our D made Stockton look like our P. Manning.
Keep in mind we were down two starters on the line and two in the secondary. Running game, tackling, pursuit angles can all be coached up. Heart and grit are characteristics that are far less "coachable."

I'd just offer that while that kid made some great throws UGA is saying the same thing about JA. I, for one, am encouraged by our fight and excited if we can get some starters back in the lineup.

No excuses, we gave that one away, but we also took the #6 team in the country to OT and SHOULD have won. A lot to be excited about going forward. Go Vols brother!

“With a qb like Joey?” What do you mean? Top 10 qb performance against a GA defense in the past half decade idiot. Do some of y’all even realize what you’re typing?

The way I look at it is…I am a Vol for life and I watch and follow many of their sports. To lose the way we did today in FB is frustrating and it’s human nature to question all aspects of why we lost. But, it will never make me stop watching my Vols. In case anyone cares, our LV soccer team is kicking ass and the LV volleyball is doing well too.

Just wish coach would get a killer instinct some times, this game was got the taking.

What stings about this is I think next year when we change schedules to 3 permanent rivalries we may not play GA next season. This was a good time to give them a good send off

As expected, Georgia received all the hype during the SEC Network halftime show of Vandy/S Carolina. Doering couldn't wait to say they didn't play their best and still won.

This is the exact reason you close out these games. We could've made these guys salty.

With you man. Who do you think the three are? Bama, Vandy, UF? Not sure who #3 will be and how they will be set (or are they already?).
