Decibels are logarithmic not linear. Loudness, as perceived by the human ear doubles roughly doubles every 10 dB. That means 128 dB is greater than 600,000 louder than normal conversation.OMG 128 decibels !
Comparison to Other Sounds
- Ambulance sirens and jackhammers: These can reach levels around 120–130 decibels.
- Jet engine: At a distance of 100 feet, a jet engine produces about 140 decibels, which is also the human pain threshold.
- Normal conversation: This level is around 60–70 decibels.
I like it that you know and understand logarithmic scaling. You'd fit in well with me and my nerd bros.Decibels are logarithmic not linear. Loudness, as perceived by the human ear doubles roughly doubles every 10 dB. That means 128 dB is greater than 600,000 louder than normal conversation.
