When you have 2 skill guys starting in the NFL, and starting in all major fantasy leagues then you don't get to debate supporting cast. Add to that your supporting defense that is largely all starting in the NFL... you really don't get to debate talent around a QB at that pointOne correction: Kirby picked Fromm instead of Fields. Fields leaving is why Stetson came back from JUCO—and he was promptly third on the depth chart.
I also think Bennett was a gunslinger, not a game manager. He was way more into taking chances and running the ball. He threw
I also think you might be overstating UGA’s skill talent around Bennett. Bowers is of course absurd, one of the best ever at the position. But besides him was a short, shifty slot WR in McConkey and… who else? Kearis Jackson? Marcus Rosemy? The RBs were good, but nobody would mistake Daijun Edwards, Kendall Milton, or Kenny McIntosh for Dylan Sampson or Todd Gurley.
It is honestly no wonder why we've gotten our ass kicked in recent years. It sucks some of our most important guys on defense are out this year too, but if we beat them - no excuses and Heup shoots to top coaches list with a bullet.Dude you had a ton of OL that is in the NFL from that team. Yes Stetson could run, but seriously with the dearth of QB’s in the NFL if he was anything more than a game manager he would be starting for some team instead of a 3rd string QB for the Rams. I mean I Love Dobbs, he was a pretty good college QB that could also run and made tiny shoes look much better than he was, but he’s even started games in the NFL, heck even McElrory was a 2nd stringer for a little bit of time and started one game. He was the quintessential game manager.
As far as the UGA team in 2022 he had Bowers, Darnell Washington, McIntosh was a pretty good RB at 5.5 a carry, Edward’s wasn’t bad either as a RB. Also include McConkey which is a dang good WR that’s done really well in the pro’s. I think I counted 6-7 OL from that 2021-2022 teams that were drafted. So again, when you have a stud OL that can keep you clean it’s pretty easy to make plays. 4 offensive players drafted from that team.
2021- that team had 2 OL that started and went into the league and 4 others that played that got drafted later. Also not only Bowers, but you had Cook and Pickens on that team along with Zamora White. 6 offensive players drafted from that team alone in 2022 draft. So yeah, he didn’t have any offensive talent around him. Again, almost any half decent QB would look good behind that OL and weapons.
By the way in 2023 4 offensive players were drafted in 2024 draft and all 4 started in 2022 season also. I don’t think TN has had that many players drafted combined in past 5 years as those 3 years for just offensive players from UGA.
Disagree. As much as I dislike him, he made plays that helped them win games. He also was able to lead them. They were both decent college QB’s and pretty much bench sitters in the NFL. All because they really weren’t that good. About anyone would have won those national titles, heck even Nico would have looked good behind that OL with those RB’s, WR’s and especially TE. Not even counting the Defense that they had. Also Kirby picked Stetson instead of Fields and Fields easily would have won both those natty’s as he’s a better QB by far. Pretty much Stetson was a game manager, same as Saban used many years.
The scary thing……………..this is probably like so true"Like they told me that AP stands for like Awesome People and like I really felt bad when the Florida team didn get to win and the other team like beat them at the last second. Like that wasn fair and the one Florida team had blue in their outfits and my boyfriend has blue eyes and so I really like blue so I really felt like they should have gotten to win. But the whole thing is so much fun. Like to get to vote and stuff, like maybe we should pick our government leaders by voting too. That would be really cool because some of them are really mean and if we got to vote then maybe we could vote for the government people with the best outfits and the ones we like on socials the best and stuff."
Are you seriously denying the fact that the OL spazzed completely out thanks to the noise and weren't jumping at shadows from the first snap? They were so discombobulated they couldn't think straight and stayed that way.It was the defensive scheme. Kirby had an analyst study Tennessee’s offense the whole season. They brought in a special blitz package specifically for the game and that’s what killed us
Of course the sound didn’t help. That’s like that on any road game, but part of the reason the oline was so discombobulated was because of the scheme. They sent some of the craziest blitzes I’ve ever seen that game. When you adjust and put out a defense you have never seen it’s dang near impossible to adjust mid gameAre you seriously denying the fact that the OL spazzed completely out thanks to the noise and weren't jumping at shadows from the first snap? They were so discombobulated they couldn't think straight and stayed that way.
Yes the scheme was blah blah blah...it was really good, but the OL being completely screwed in the head so bad made it impossible to figure out and overcome.
You act like it was some genius magic trick where NOBODY on our staff could see what they were doing and try to adjust for it.
Look...Georgia had a great defense that didn't need much help to slow the iffense, but our OL gave them all the help they could wish for by freaking the heck out.
And yet...despite all of that...there were still huge plays that could have been made...but Hendon was so rattled because he was running for his life thanks to the OL breaking down so badly, that he could not execute them.
We probably wouldn't have beat them if those plays were made, but it would have been a game.
I'm not debating that it was a really good scheme, I'm simply saying the noise made it near impossible to overcome that game, it made those huge plays that were absolutely there to make against that scheme...not be made.
And this is exactly why I’m not optimistic about Saturday.crazy.
Its like if the other team got to choose who they wanted out of the game.
