Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I don’t understand these career trajectories of these coaches. Such meteoric rises, can’t miss, fire recruiter, next thing you know, making xerox copies in 3 years.
Muschamp is a perfect example of someone you should pay $3 million to be your DC. Horrific head coach. I bet once his buyout period is over (I'm sure usc is still paying him), hell go get a DC job.

He was already co-DC at UGA from 2022-2023.

Collecting two SEC buyouts essentially back-to-back is just wild. South Carolina hiring him just two seasons after he got fired at Florida was so boneheaded. There's no way it was going to work out long term and everyone knew it. I remember the guy who ran the Coaching Hot Seat website (RIP, it's now some knockoff of its former self) put him at No. 1 the instant the hire was announced.

Counterpoint: The last time I went to College Gameday in Knoxville (just to tailgate), we beat Florida for the first time in six years. This will be my first time inside Neyland stadium, so maybe the luck is on our side again.

I want this one so bad I can’t stand it. We have a real shot and maybe the best shot we have had against them in a long time because it is early in the season and that means more chaos is likely to happen.

If Neyland can get loud and rowdy like never before, force Stockton into mistakes, and our offense can make the most of every possession, we can win this game.

Go Vols.
We can definitely win this game, and if we were at full strength I would say we definitely SHOULD win this game....the problem is simply doing it.

Losing gets in your head and causes anxiety that throws off all of your instincts...we saw that against UF for years in the 90s and over the last 15 years when we had teams just as talented, if not way more talented than them...it became a huge mental block, from the HC and staff all the way through the roster...every game there was this stupid "What crazy thing is going to happen this time?" that caused our collective brain to lock up, while on the opposite side has filled their team with confidence that something great is always going to happen.

I hope that kind of thing doesn't affect us this Saturday...Heupel has methodically broken through some of these mental hurdles, but we still have several to go.

It is a real issue, and if we do not come out just pissed off at the world and consumed with hatred for everything not good and orange in the world....then it will not go the way we want.

I want our team and our fans to as the Emperor would say..."Let the hate flow through you"...if we can do that, then we can win this game despite the injuries.

If you can't cut it at Florida where recruiting is 10000x easier than usc, how are you going to make it at a team in the exact same division with a harder schedule? One of the dumbest hires ever.

How was he Co DC but now he's not? He's not even listed on their staff now.

He left a few months ago.

What has always burned us in the past against Kirby is our linebacker play. Stockton is still young and I believe we can dial in some blitzes and new designs to mess with his head.

You have the same outlook I had until I saw how Hype has looked this year. The dude is still pissed off about last year. I think this game will be the game that puts Joey as the front runner in the heisman race.

We have a stable of backs and not just one. We have the most talented receiving core in the hype era and a QB who can run the full playbook. Heard and the boys have been outstanding this year and you can see the difference from years past.

This game feels different. It’s got the why not us attitude. We need the fans to be rowdy from the time they exit the tunnel.
I think you misunderstand me...

I'm not saying we are going to lose...I'm saying it will be a tough game that is not going to be an easy victory. I think it will be a close win if we get it...unless...we come and Heupel coaches pissed off, and our players play angry and violently. If we get out of our heads we could beat them soundly....but Kirby and Will are going to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Heupel/Halzle, the OL and Joey to try and get us to stay in our heads.

It will be interesting to see what happens for people that love the chess game.
