For you old heads that had your younguns play soccer, did you get the cheapest equipment for them whenever they were just starting out? I signed the boy up for this fall and know he needs cleats, socks, and shin guards. Wasn’t sure which brand to go with because I know quality seems to be different from sport to sport.

Make sure you get soccer cleats, not baseball cleats. Baseball cleats have a cleat at the top part of the toe, and with all the kicking that goes on, the league probably won’t let you use them. Soccer cleats don’t have that cleat at the top part of the toe.

This is true. We thought cleats were cleats, yea no. We went from soccer cleats to field hockey cleats. FH/lacrosse cleats have toe cleats.
