Gun control debate (merged)

You don’t believe the National Guard could be used to further a political agenda by a future administration?
Considering 70% of the military and 90% of local law enforcement is conservative, I do not believe they will go house to house to round up firearms no

If they were willing to arrest churchgoers at an outdoor "psalm sing" during COVID, I don't put it past them to at least try.
you are talking about a couple of specific officers at a few specific areas of cities...not the majority or even close...the majority of officers and sheriffs and chiefs didn't arrest one single person for COVID BS

I think it needs to be looked at but this is a slippery slope for me as 2A supporter.

However If you consider yourself a "trans" person then you are suffering from a mental illness. That's a red flag to me. IMO
This is the issue. Carving out exceptions to the 2A is a genie that doesn't want to go back in the bottle and will serve whatever master is in charge at the time. Slapping labels on groups and saying "This right doesn't apply to your kind." is just bad business and not something anyone should view with comfort.

Now having said the above one of the areas most everyone agrees on is mentally ill people probably shouldn't be running around with firearms. Now we get into the very icky area of what actually qualifies as "mentally ill", or more specifically, "sufficiently" mentally ill to set you aside regarding an enumerated right. Is the fact of being X sufficient? If you've ever taken any medication that could even tangentially be associated with mental health? What about going in for treatment regarding PTSD after coming back from a combat theater? It's a long list of possibilities.

I have a pretty easy time looking at a 100% dude that thinks he needs an OBGYN and thinking "That guy's wiring is off." Sufficient to remove him and anyone else that identifies as trans to be officially adjudicated as ineligible to possess a firearm? That's not an easy question and frankly it'd be a HUGE uphill legally.

you forget what happened in Covid?

how many stood up against the lock downs?

We have already seen them comply with acts that violate posse comitas.

100? LOL

You're not even in the ballpark of the number of LEO that were out enforcing Covid bullcrap.
You are saying more than 100 people were arrested by police for COVID related policies? I doubt that, maybe in California and NY

I have no clue how many people were arrested but that’s not what we were talking about. We were talking about the number of cops that willingly enforced covid lockdowns and restrictions. That number is in the thousands.

People were shot for standing on their porches in Minnesota.
That wasn't because of covid, the George Floyd riots were on going and there was a night curfew in place, they were shot by police due to refusing to go inside during the riot.

Now i don't agree with that, but that isolated incident had nothing to do with COVID

I have no doubt that there are plenty of officers who refused to enforce the madness during COVID. But the majority did. Couldn’t get a response for a property crime but there was plenty of time to detain people not wearing masks and to shut down public gatherings.

COVID taught me not to count on the police to do what is right by the people. Most of them will line up to enforce nutty **** so long as they are told to.
