Every major program even when things are good is going to see double digit portal departures every year. Mostly due to players seeing the handwriting on the wall and that they have been beaten out or recruited over. Fans are gonna flip out, just like ours did over the secondary last year and the receivers this year, but this is the new normal.Bc what would be the point of taking less? One would think it’s to be developed at Bama bc you believe going there is better than other options. Why take less and then give sh*t effort? That doesn’t get you good film for the NFL. That doesn’t get you paid in the portal.
As for their mass exodus every December, this is only Y2 for DeBoer. He’s only had one December there.
But for reference:
- Bama had 25 hit the portal
- Vols had 25 hit the portal
- UGA had 20 hit the portal
- OSU had 15 hit the portal
- Miami had 22 hit the portal
- LSU had 23 hit the portal
- A&M had 30 hit the portal
The team they just lost to FSU had 25+ hit the portal since last year.
Are these also teams that have trouble with NIL?
I don't think they are playing. Would be cool though, it would be the battle of the prima donnas. Bill's girlfriend vs Nico. One of them would emerge as the coveted Swift trophy frontrunner.Week two is always pretty terrible but
OU vs Mich is a very interesting game.
USF vs Florida will be very interesting IMO.
If not, Kentucky vs Ole Miss could be interesting.
Then you've got UCLA and UNC with good potential for hate watching.
emotional support toys…. society has become soft!!!Probably need to move this to off-topic, but it wasn't me that attributed those behaviors to men, and being toxic. I'm talking about the football mindset, "That is your enemy across the line of scrimmage and it is your job to absolutely dominate them by driving them in to the ground for 5 seconds with no mercy. You are the alpha and nothing will stand in your way of proving that to the world on every play. It's your job to know that you are stronger than them, and prove it to everyone including them, untilthey are so mentally defeated that they don't want to do it anymore."
Of course women can feel that way. But it's a certain segment of current culture that by and large attributes that as male energy that needs to be removed from society while celebrating sensitive, passive, subservient men, who need emotional support stuffed animals. It's not a discussion on which is inherently better or worse. It's a conversation of which energy wins football games.
To speak to your point, FWIW, I'd rather have a woman with football mindset than a dude with emotional support toys on my football team.
Is "I bet" much different than "may"?lol I said "MAY" be better. They looked very athletic on defense. Cuse did not.
Someone saying Syracuse would beat them by 20+ is nonsense. They're about the same overall. Last years records mean squat.
They were rewarded. They moved up more spots than we did, yet struggled mightily playing what was a worse team. I bet Syracuse beats VT by 20+.
I'm hoping he does this weekend. But getting no run in the Cuse game when we were very thin already and, per the 247 guys, not being in the mix as of now to help in the UGA game, isn't a good sign. IMO we signed a DT this spring very specifically to help this season given all of the youth behind the Top 3 (two of whom are now hurt) and the thought at the time that Jamal Wallace might not ever be healthy enough to play (per AP). So yeah I'm hopeful that he's able to help us next year but we really need him to come on soon and at least soak up some snaps in meaningful games. Its been 1 game. Atleast wait until after week 4 to see if he can get some snaps and flash against the cupcakes.
At this point I'd be shocked if Utley and Campbell aren't getting the reps in front of Schell.I'm hoping he does this weekend. Utley already is. I assume both Campbell and Schell will get lots of reps this weekend to give them experience. With Moi potentially out for UGA and at the very least likely limited/less than 100%, we need all hands on deck because we know UGA is going to try to run it more than throw it.At this point I'd be shocked if Utley and Campbell aren't getting the reps in front of Schell.
Now is the time to.find out where they are in their development. Big week to make some important decisions..Utley already is. Can't like this post enough. We have some of the finest keyboard coaches in the country. They can evaluate a player from thousands of miles away. I guess it's their gift to humanityI wonder about posters who think they know more about the quality of football players than any coach8ng staff. It just indicates they don't have any idea about the recruiting pool.
So far, slow-bus fan portal freakout about DBs (bait-stoked by "our" media) is directly proportional to the quality of ensuing secondary.Every major program even when things are good is going to see double digit portal departures every year.
