Anyone watching Nico tonight?

I see his pocket presence hasn't improved. Goodness we were blind by his 5 star ranking. He just doesn't have it between the ears

I do wonder if some of the sacks last year was a result of him just being bad in the pocket.

hate when Vols fans say they want to "hate watch" him. Like I totally get it, we have a right to be ticked at what he did and it's not the kind of people we want in our program. But we are above Nico. We have Faizon coming and already a better prospect waiting on the bench right now, and maybe even a better starter right now. It's just kinda ugly and reflects poorly on the fan base when we publicly "hate" and wish the worst on someone.

That said, go Utes
I don't have that big of a problem with what he did. Turns out it was a pretty bad business decision for him. He thought his market value was more than it was.

I'm kind of glad it worked out like it did. He's a great athlete and has all the physical tools. He wasn't a good QB at any point for UT. He missed too many open throws. He missed seeing WAY too many receivers. He didn't appear to be a good leader that the other guys gravitated to.

Nothing against him. The Vols just needed someone better and were kind of handcuffed due to NIL.

Really don’t see how he could be this delusional. His performance last year wasn’t anything near blue chip. Takes some large ones to go demand more money after last season.

The apparent narrative his "camp" put out about it not being about money and more about surrounding him with better talent was a joke. UCLA looks awful.
It was exactly what everyone thought it was - lobbying for more money, and it backfired spectacularly.

Maybe the talent around him just needed a better QB.

Of course I stayed up and watched. Well at least until halftime. He looked about the same as last year. If his first read is open he can rocket it to them. If not he panics and get happy feet. Still an excellent athlete but he’s still got a lot of developing to do. For this year we 100% upgraded.
Wonder what he did with his old Happy Feet—

Swear I read somewhere that the Big Ten was not originally interested in UCLA. They just wanted Southern Cal, but they insisted they wanted to keep the rivalries and to have a geographical partner.

Just noticed watching the highlights. Utah's fans sounded louder... like maybe they took over.

I think if there is anything we can take from all of this is that the vast majority of the talking heads have NO clue what they are talking about. All of season we have heard nothing but how much of a step back UT was going to take because of Nico....how limited Heupel would be. There was a reason Nico and co took a huge pay cut when they over played their hand...there was no market for him at the price he was asking. Every coach in the country who runs successful programs passed for a reason. If any of them thought he could help win, they would have snatched him up. Don't really blame Nico...he is just a victim of bad advice.
Joey and Heupel said it best----the outside noise is just "rat poison" and no one in the athletic department listens to it

Not to mention way too indecisive, and didn’t have a good feel of the game or in the pocket.

It really has become uninhabitable IMO. Our friends still live there but are desperately looking to leave as soon as possible. Really a shame…leadership, without question, worse in the nation. Go Vols!

These are the dumbest takes on this forum...and that's saying a lot.

Funny how "uninhabitable" you claim California to be when the population is 40 million.

The leadership you claim is the "worse in the nation" is has created and is in charge of the 4th largest economy in the world, not to mention adding $83 billion more in federal taxes than in receives. As you know, most Southern states are the opposite. :p

If your friends are desperate to leave, please encourage that! We don't really need them.

On a separate football note, I live in Los Angeles and can't imagine why anyone would want to play for UCLA. The stadium is located 45 minutes away from campus, there are very few native American football fans (most Angelenos are ex-pats), and there is no college football "culture". Nico's situation reeks of either vastly overplaying his hand, or, more likely, he doesn't truly LOVE football.

California used to be a nice place to live or visit. I worked out there a couple times in the 80's in LA and loved the weather, beaches, etc. Sad to see what it's become today. I don't visit any place that doesn't respect my 2nd amendment rights
I’m so old I recall people dreaming about moving to California. Now I know people dreaming of getting out.

USC needed a partner to move. If Oregon had shown initial interest, Big Ten would have taken them with USC & blew off UCLA & Washington.

Once Colorado, Arizona schools etc bolted for Big12, Oregon had no choice. I believe both Oregon & Washington receive 50% shares for 5 or 10 years.

That's at least 3 bich-slaps.

Nico now rooms with his brother and is "comfortable being uncomfortable." He can now feed his incredibly large family until he runs out of eligibility and Madden takes over. He still has some volleyball eligibility to fall back on when Coach Foster gets fired likely after this season.
Good grief that article was a gigantic crock of ****, what a puff-piece pile of trash. That "journalist" should be ashamed of himself for penning that nauseating diatribe.

In the spirit of good fun…PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR FRIENDS TO STAY …AND NOT MOVE TO TENNESSEE… we can agree on the UCLA statement for sure though.

Nico clearly benefited from having better talent around him and in a system that fits him better

That's the lowest he's thrown for as a starter by the way
I don’t know that our system fit him. Josh sure didn’t trust him with the complete playbook. Looked to me like he never quite got the concepts.

There sure are a lot of Californians moving to TN to get away from that place

It's the environment that's been created around college sports, that's how he was that delusional. Probably still is to a certain extent.
