They can't afford to fire him. Good perspective here:You can't honestly think he survives 7-5.
How many times does this have to be disproven for people to realize that the money can and will be found? 7-5 means fans stop showing up to games. There will be a full-on revolt in Tuscaloosa. Bama doesn't just sit there with its football program, which is literally everything to the school and has been since 2008, spiraling into the toilet because they can't afford to fix the problem. They can't afford to fire him. Good logic here:
Kalen DeBoer is almost impossible to fire this year. Buyout near $70 million … PLUS the roughly $21 million in salary cap that’s new … PLUS continuation of NIL deals … PLUS would need to pay a new coach … PLUS coordinator buyouts + new coordinators paid
Do you know how many coaches around the country are coaching on mostly-guaranteed contracts versus how many have already cashed-in?How many times does this have to be disproven for people to realize that the money can and will be found? 7-5 means fans stop showing up to games. The AD was asking for fans to donate money for NIL, they are trying creative ways to get money. They dont have unlimited pockets. How many times does this have to be disproven for people to realize that the money can and will be found? 7-5 means fans stop showing up to games. Here is the problem. Say you fire this guy after two seasons, you had to give this dude nearly 100 million guaranteed just to take the job. What's the pool going to look like to replace him? How would the contract situation be any different? And how willing will boosters be to chuck up another 100 million to hire the next guy?The AD was asking for fans to donate money for NIL, they are trying creative ways to get money. Things change in a hurry when the program is in a perceived death spiral. And asking for money for NIL to potentially boost what's already elite recruiting isn't really comparable to buying out what they perceive as a coach who is killing the program. There's skepticism/lack of urgency surrounding NIL in Tuscaloosa when they already recruit extremely well without huge $$$ and have a history of reeling off No. 1 classes. The AD was asking for fans to donate money for NIL, they are trying creative ways to get money.
