The problem with schools that are funded at the level of Wisconsin is if they actually do develop a stud OL he's going to transfer somewhere else who can afford to pay him more because the market for OL is robust. There's more demand than supply.
I'm going to assuage your fears by explaining why I'm not afraid: Florida not only had to hire Napier (whom LSU evaluated and rejected) but they had to give him the sort of contract where it makes no financial sense to fire him early even if he disappoints considerably. And when they do fire him, they will be in a very similar situation as they were in previously. The UAA is a ridiculously corrupt organization with oversized power where the ex-AD Jeremy Foley is still pulling strings behind the scenes and the current AD is basically a figurehead who raises money and does little decision-making. No coach like Golesh or even Curt Cignetti would leave the situations they are in to coach at Florida. They don't even know who their president will be. A carefully selected appointee was rejected, I think by the State, and they are JUST trying to appoint an interim. I don't think anyone wants that job honestly. It's been empty since the Senator suddenly bolted amid corruption allegations. My new fear is Florida fires Napier and hires Golesh.
I’m gonna have to root for Florida to win just enough games to keep Napier around
Absolutely. I was just thinking if he has an exceptional season this year I could see programs like Kentucky or Arkansas him a shot. There is a difference between some teams taking a chance on him and Florida firing Napier to hire him though.
South Florida was in a bad spot because Jeff Scott was bad, but it's a pretty good spot to land for a first time HC. Talent rich state in a great location playing in a shared stadium with a NFL team.
Just think folks might be overreacting a bit to blowing out a Boise State team that had a generational talent carrying them last season...they've only won 10 games twice since 2019 were overrated and Alex was ready.
USF now plays at Florida and then at Miami...if they win one of those then Alex might be picking his spot this off season.
He's a good coach and I wanna see him do well. But hasn't exactly established himself to be an elite HC or anything at this point.
You people love rats...I dunno...
1) Was it true?
2) Was it known/knowable publicly, without any special or secret investigation?
3) Was the rule twisted or lawyered at all to be applied to this situation?
I think, in this case, Clemson is only guilty of reminding the ruling authority to do the correct and usual thing.
