I get the idea of owning a piece of a business if it means persuading the biz to base here in the U.S. for national security reasons, but its a risky proposition absent a national emergency and would seem to open the door to all sorts of government purchases of business interests simply where a reasonable justification could be offered.

Mr. Wonderful was on CNBC this morning and was asked about it. Said it was the worst idea ever, that Intel has been so badly managed for years that it should long ago have been taken out behind a barn and shot in the head.

I'm just hoping that Trump and his minions don't get any stupid ideas about risking SS money in investments on the theory it will generate returns.

Governments have owned and controlled private companies and businesses since the existence of government. You're welcome. The general definition imo of communism is to try and make a classless society, which I would say is not possible. Not understanding the connection here, I mean you can get into cronyism at some point but owning and controlling private or public companies/businesses is really a good portion of what they do.

I would say its not the worst thing ever if its a one time cash infusion to get them some upgrade. governments gets a non voting share, and some buy back period of ten years.
